I also feel like if developers are inclined to make jerk moves then that art argument has no point anymore because their not creating art anymore.

I just can't believe I actually feel... hurt. Like I've been punched in the face.

It's not artistic vision. Artistic vision implies that you care about your product. If they cared about the product, they wouldn't have half-assed it or contradicted their own themes and lore.

And it sure as hell wasn't for the fans.

It's like they don't care about the wonderful universe they've created. It's like they don't care about all the people who have come to enjoy it so much. It's like they don't even care about themselves, like they can't even be assed to maintain their own integrity and standard of quality.

Well, lookie here, Bioware: You know why I enjoyed your games so much?

Because when I played them, I honestly felt like the people behind it gave a damn.

If and when I make my own sci-fi universe, I swear to never let my passion die at the most critical moment like this. And if it does, if my heart's truly not in it, then I'll hand my work over to the people who still care. The fans. The rest of the team. Whatever.

I think I've finally found my life goal.

Guys, I'm creating the next great sci-fi IP. Who's with me?

(Feral, Dieby, and the rest of the gang: I already know you're in on it. Let's do this together!)

I blame this movie!

Explains NOTHING and yet consider one of the greatest artistic thing ever.
The worst influence ever and just hit ME3!

Video games as an art also now screwed do to that since Mass Effect has a ton of influence.

2001 was a great movie, it was purposefully supposed to be open-eneded and leave room for speculation.

It however, has no PLACE in the MASS EFFECT universe. STAR CHILDREN DO NOT HAVE PLACE IN THIS GAME. At least not in the capacity that "this one" served.

And yet how many people are still playing multiplayer? Or will buy the DLC?

Their plan for dealing with this whole backlash seems to have been to lie low, hope for the outrage to die down and maybe hope for people's energy to run out. This reveal works because it might cause most people to give up and just accept it. I bet Bioware or EA did the numbers or strategized and figured losing a portion of this fanbase and perhaps just abandoning the ME franchise was preferable to the alternative. They would just count on casuals or first-time buyers convinced by a full court press ad campaign like what they had for ME3 the next time around. It's not even guaranteed most people will stay outraged-- they might just give up and accept and move on.

If this whole Retake thing really wanted to make an impact, it would have to get much better organized. One good way is to encourage people to NOT play multiplayer. Show them emptiness and tell them the whole thing is unacceptable. This will suggest that future multiplayer DLC will fail, and possibly future single player DLC as well since it suggests nobody wants to play ME3. Talking about holding the line and logging in to post angry messages on a forum just won't cut it.

Damn, I purchased the Digital Deluxe N7 version.

T-T I can't even sell the freaking game back...

I signed on to this forum only to let Bioware know how frustrated and disappointed I am with this ending.

It's just terrible.

Same story here <.< I feel such an idiot for buying the digital version... I can't return it... I can't even burn it =_=

You can still delete Origin and forget about it.

The longer this goes on, the more I'm thinking that, even if Bioware is just trolling us all and going to enormous lengths to do so (in order to make us look at every bit of lore to disprove them, I guess?), they might just go too far and not be able to make things right again, if they actually release something to fix the terrible ending: http://i.imgur.com/stzbj.jpg

And if they're actually serious about this ending, 100% serious, they've better made some recordbreaking profit with Mass Effect 3 cause it might just be the last game they can sell to an intact fanbase.

But the more I think about it, the more I think they can't be serious. I mean, even Mass Effect 3's multiplayer is mostly there to affect the Singleplayer. If there's no incentive to go through the singleplayer (or any Mass Effect game, for that matter) again, Mass Effect 3 will die. Period. They won't sell any DLC, if they don't patch things up, literally.

I agree with you, I think they may have gone to far IF they were just trying to troll us. I used to hold out hope that they were messing with us just so they could release a dlc and say "See we listened to you, we're awesome and love our customers". But stuff like this is basically them saying, "hey thanks for the money, now fk off."

don't know, i read this thread and now I'm just sitting here kind of numb. Any hope I had held that Bioware would make this right has been destroyed. I will never buy another bioware game, I will probably trade in my ME games towards something else and do so with great sadness in my heart at what could have been.

So they're charging people $3 to let them know that the endings were intended to be interpreted at face value, plot holes and all.

What is this I don't even.

If it was meant to generate speculation, then that generally means they are planning a real ending, those are just notes and assumptions about what the notes mean. Obviously they were working hard on the ending, though they couldn't figure out one that would entirely end Shepards ending, So, it is obvious they are listening to what we say to fine tune it to be the best possible.

Hey guys I have a great idea! No investigate option! Even though we have gone to all that work on the codex to explain how the universe works in our game, and had previously given the option in the other games!

We will achieve nothing by bashing Mass Effect 3 on Amazon. The game doesn't even deserve it, I believe most people here agree that, up to the last 10 minutes, ME3 is an amazing game.

On Tali's Face
We eventually decided that she gives you a memento of her pictures, but the team was throwing around a lot of pictures and designs until we decided on something and said "Yup, that's her".

AAAARGH ! - You had the answer in-front of you the whole time! - your own developers even re-tweeted it!.  Everyone thought it awesome!, you couldn't contact the artist in question, ask if they were interested and pass the NDA form?.

/facepalm.

Yeah Bioware, you screwed up, you screwed up badly. These endings don't cause speculation they cause annoyance and anger. Few people even kinda sorta like it and even the best ending leaves things in a bad place for pretty much everyone, most of Shepard and the LI. What was the point of giving us a "Shepard lives" Ending when odds are Shepard will never see them again because they randomly freaking teleported on to the Normandy which you stranded in the ass end of nowhere for no good reason.

And even with that I would be okay with no happy endings, the problem is every ending you gave us is poorly explained and hopelessly depressing.
