Ok, the forums are now unlocked and people can post again.
TO BE CLEAR:
The app in question was created by Geoff Keighley of Gametrailers. It was made from materials he collected, with support from BioWare, in the weeks before Mass Effect 3 is launched. This app is NOT BioWare's "official response about the endings of the game", or similar. We will be addressing the endings in the future as I have indicated in this thread.
You are welcome to discuss this app and it's content, but please foolow the site rules when you post. We do not allow swearing, fighting or abuse of staff, moderators or our company.
Mr. Priestly. I understand that this isn't your fault and that you're burdened with handling many upset fans but I must point out that we're not upset over who made the app, or how it was made.
We know it's not an "official response."
But what this app tells us is that BioWare planned these endings all along, that they always meant to break their promises, that they thought it was a good idea to take away all of our choice in the ending and leave us with some nonsensical mess.
It takes away our hope, and shows that any official response will be along the lines of "It's what we intended, deal with it.". That is why we're upset.
This. A million and a half times, this.

Yeah calling for people to be fired was a bit much. Hopefully Bioware owns up to this mistake (hopefully with DLC) I wiSpitfiremk87 wrote...

I don't think anyone has a right to be self-righteously angry at Hudson and Walters for simply making some bad choices. Everyone makes mistakes.
Be sad, be dissapointed, give good criticism for them if they do decide to go back and revise the ending, but raging at people who gave something an honest try is really bad form, regardless of whether they failed.

Everyone makes mistakes. This just happens to be a big one. Lets keep it civil and organized and make sure Bioware know what we want(Which they obviously do).

What Angry said.
If you guys plan to say anything different and completely 100% official, do it soon, because this will only get worse
It's actually getting worse and really out of hand!

how do you get to the end of the game and just say "well a bunch of stuff happens" and then someone goes "ok, so why? how? was there a reason? what are the effects?" "it just happens ok?"
huh?

They watched me scream, cry and laugh(I want a Kaiden pillow to help me thru my 5 stages of grief!).
Now I would love for someone to import the speech from the Salarian Commander on Virmire!!!
It would be perfect, of course we would have to change the dialog alittle.
"As we come to the conclusion of our game.......we must hold the line
As Bioware refuses to hear our cries..........we must hold the line
As our individual choices will never be seen........we must hold the line etc.

There really is no constructive criticism available though...after the elevator ride the entire thing needs scarpped or leave it and move on...there aren't three choices.........aimlessgun wrote...

Really if you think about it the timing of this app release is so terrible that it's comical. It's like tossing a torch into a dry room full of sawdust gunpowder and gasoline.
That fact that it costs 3 dollars is just the cherry on top.
Yeah but bioware didnt create the app. They aren't charging. The things within the app are worth $3 no doubt.

I'm trying to hold the line. Really I am.
But after this...I don't know...I'm fading too.

Actually I think we're more mad that we were knowingly LIED to. How can you, in good conscious, go out and tell all your fans that they're going to get closure and all the important questions will be answered... and then go back and decide that speculation is the most important thing and that the fans "don't need to know" anything. That's what gets me more than sad, it gets me ticked.

I'm just happy that Chris said it's not bioware's stance on the ending, I still have hope!
Lol. They're now in full-on damage control mode. I have never before seen an entire forum locked down. There is no way that this is able to simply be a 'let's just wait for it all to go away' thing any more. The longer they wait, and the more 'unofficial' information that comes out, the more damage they're doing to what was once considered an almost inviolate brand.
There was a time when 'hope' was not needed when discussing Bioware products. Because you knew that they were quality things. Dragon Age 2 was a huge misstep and they handled it poorly. TOR was another, according to some people. A passable game, but not the quality that many had expected. Now this debacle involving a franchise that many people obviously care deeply about.
To top it off, we've got mods closing entire threads while only silence reigns from the developers and writers. They don't even have the guts or decency to speak with the community that made them the powerhouse in gaming that they are today beyond coy little messages on Twitter, or rebuking people for being justly upset.

No. No. A mistake is Tali's photo. A mistake is having Shep tote around a rifle even if she's not a soldier.
This was a disaster. It destroyed the whole trilogy.
How can someone be so casual about this?
How can someone write the finale of an entire saga and go "alright let's just copy The Matrix" (actually on Walters' notes in so many words!).
I just will never understand why this could happen.
Exactly.
I love you, man.

This is why Mac Walters should never have been the lead writer. Drew was the lead for designing this beautiful world and setting the stage for a great trilogy, even with a good end in mind.. And then it gets handed off to Mac, and we get the abomination that is the god child. I will never purchase a Bioware game again, knowing that these are the kinds of design choices they approve of.
that is what im thinking too. ever since Drew stoped beeing the Leadwriter. they cramed out halfassed
porely written stuff..
i wish they would get Drew to accually come back just to Write an expansion/DLC pack that:
redoes the hole ending,
changes alot of the crappy writing thruout the hole game. like the nonexisting dialogue
or kasumi from ME2 autoanswer by major character style they implemented to the FINALE!!??!! WTF
im sorry but i think the hole game is porly written. and it shows all over, people are just too caught up in the end that is ridicolously bad and cant see that yet.. but it will come...

i mean if you purposely make an ending unclear and confusing. is it even the ending?

i have zero faith left in bioware, I'm going to hold out hope until we get an official statement and if it's anything other then an ending fix i'm packing it up and trading the games in. Bioware has been quiet to long with this. the longer they wait the more damage they will do to their rep.
This is how I feel.

This
Yep.
It really hurts, and it feels like no one registers that. Three games in and all for nothing. Just: "Here you go, have fun with your guessing games. bye lol" The ending left me filled so unaccomplished and distant. And I was sad because of that, not because the story touched me emotionally.
