It has been CONFIRMED that this is the ending that BioWare intended to make. No secret DLC. No "gee sorry guys, we'll make up some new endings for you LOL". This is it. It's over.

I absolutely despised the way this game series ended, but that's that. It's just a game.

At this point, I hope BioWare just comes in and tells everyone to deal with it and get off the forums.

Then we fight harder.

If we give in now then we risk this kind of nonsense becoming acceptable. This isn't just about Mass Effect. This is a fight for integrity in story telling. We need to make sure that something like this never happens again. That is our duty. Even if we don't win here, even if we don't get the ending we deserve, we can stop other companies from pulling this kind of madness.

Guys I think I might be done with Bioware, and hopefully I can get the urge back to play some Blizzard games because they don't deserve for me not to buy their games that I was going to buy because of Bioware's mistakes.

Its just to hard to play games right now...

The way I see it, the app proves that the ending was the intended ending, I really don't see how you can not see this at that point.

Not really no.

So it was exaclty what it seems like - a last minute copout to save them the pressure of actually having to make any decisions. They literally just threw it all together.

No people who throw stuff together come up with their own ideas and sometimes they are good.  They just ripped of the endings of BGS and 2001 for no other reason then to troll us so that they could laugh at us for buying a game they made bad on purpose, but we will have the last laugh.

Hold The Line people.

I just don't understand why they would purposely sabotage the ending like they did. They ended a wonderful trilogy on an extremely sour note for sh*ts and giggles. Lazy, half-assed slop writing and execution. Trumps MGS2 as one of the worst game endings of all time.

lol you know wats worse they redeemed themselve with the fabulous masterpieces that was MGS4 2:30+ of videos and the best ending possible for a hero like snake.

and I was thinking the ending to mass effect would trump that :(

I had hoped (even posited a theory about it elsewhere on the forums) that this whole thing was part of a plan. I still have a hard time conceiving of how a story like Mass Effect could come to such a soul-crushingly bad end.

Sadly, I am coming to agree with you that it's over and this was all we were ever going to get.

I think I'm off. No more forums, no more Mass Effect, no DLC, no replays and no more BioWare if I can help it.

It's been fun, kids. See you on the Citadel.

Yeah right, sending away thousands of their customers, that would make sense.

It's not like in other media things have never been retconned.

In comics it happens almost every week, that established canon is changed.

There are enough cases were books in series or franchises were later written of as being out of continuity.

TV shows have had whole seasons explained away as dreams, people disappearing, because their role wasn't popular etc..

There's abo****el yno reason why Bioware shouldn't jumb this hurdle if it makes sense from a financial pov.
Wounded egos don't count for much, when it comes to accounting.

At this point it's clear Bioware isn't going to do anything but sit back and trololol their way to the bank. We'd have better luck appealing Amazon and other major outlets to issue refunds.

The line I'm holding is the same it has always been:

Bioware, you screwed up.  Admit & fix and I'll forgive.

It's that simple.

Ugh, utterly disappointed.

Bioware pre-release: "We'll leave no unanswered questions!"

Post-release: "Speculation is fantastic! Its what we wanted the whole time!"

Can't wait to see the DLC numbers. I'm sure they'll drop considerably.

LOL. After reading the OP, I seriously hope they don't make any alternate/expanded ending DLC. Their creative ineptitude is so in-your-face in those interviews there's no way I'd trust them to "fix" anything without making it suck even harder.

Give it up - the ME3 development team are hacks. Don't encourage them to botch things up any further, and certainly don't pay them for it.

yeah as I said in another thread I am not refusing to buy bioware products so they will give me a new ending I am refusing to buy them because I don't buy things from people I don't trust.  Now if they want me to change my mond they will fix this and then I will come back but I will not buy their products just because they say "this is the end and we have your money so we don't care if you are mad at us for lying to you",that will just mean I will continue to not buy their stuff and they will lose money.

This.  Exactly this.  I've ... loved this game.  I was emotionally attached.  I'm not kidding.  I have a PhD.  I'm a 49 year old father of two, both of my kids loved this game too.  I pre-ordered 3 copies of the collector's edition.

And I just want to cry.

How .. how can the game be so sublimly good for the first 90% ( I was into Tali, played the game right and didn't lose anyone I wasn't forced to, got to sit on her homeworld talking about our future ), and then just ... fail.  The incongruity here is what keeps making me think there *must* be more.  Its like watching a world class tennis player lose to .. well me.

Can this really be it?

And let me tell you.  I have no pride here.  I'm not interested in 'teaching bioware a lesson', I don't care about paying for DLC.  If they said 'we screwed up, give us 6 months and we'll have something for you' ... I'd preorder 3 more copies.

This *isn't* a game.  This is interactive literature of great quality.  That seems to have been defaced.

I also love this game and am very emotionally attached to the ME characters and universe. I mean a game has never made me cry before, and I cried when Mordin died, I cried when Legion died, I cried when Garrus (my love interest) had his final talk with Shepard on Earth.

I also just want to cry having seen the ending, but not in a good way like I cried when Mordin died, etc. I just want to cry because I'm so crushed that something I love so much could be taken away from me... And I heard people complaining about the ending before I finished it but I thought, "There's no way it can be so bad that it will ruin ME for me."

But then it did.

You put it better than I did: it is an interactive literature of great quality. Perfect way of explaining it.

...That has, indeed, been defaced.

And what's funny, in a sad way, is that the writers actually thought it was a better ending from an artistic point of view, when in reality it basically smashes everything that was more literature than video game about it.

Dude, we know, it's not like they developed that whole sequence by accident. Still, they sold me this game promising something entirely different. And I will hold them to that.

I'm not sure what that video was though... I think it was raw footage of the Motion-Cap actors... and I think the dialog was cut from the game...
but I think you're right... The Quarians are indeed with us.

Yo, Bioware folks who may be lurking. You really need to make sure your resumes are in order. Seriously. Make sure they are updated because Bioware may not be long for this world at this point. The "bottom line" is about to start bleeding red and that means "downsizing".

It all seems fine to me. I really don't know what everyone's upset about.

The perfect ending is synthesis where shepard survives. You save everyone and there's peace. WTF is the matter with all of you?

So, tell us all about synthesis and what is does exactly? I mean individuals, self determination, free will, does any of that exist or is it a galactic hive-mind?  Do you even know? No you don't.....
You made an uninformed choice.....in my opinion...you are guessing what synthesis is...

Synthesis is the technological singularity in the style of a hard takeoff. The green energy is organic intelligence transcending organic chemistry and permeating itself across the cosmos. It's what many people poke fun of as "rapture for nerds."

Philosophical questions about whether free will exists, either here or in Mass Effect, are independent of the evolution of intelligent life beyond organic chemistry.

someone please tell me how joker got past the reapers, picked up ,my crew and LI (Ashley) when she and Garrus went with me to beam, without a shuttle, got to the mass relay and escaped to another system before the crucible fired? Why would Chris Griffin leave me? WE WERE BOYS!!!!

Who says there's no shuttle? Obviously they retreated when Harbringer left and Shepard was left for dead. Joker was able to get away because the SR2 is the fastest ship in the galaxy-- duh, it outran reapers the whole game. Without that fact the game wouldn't have been possible in the first place.

Joker and the rest of crew would rather die than abandon Shepard.
the shuttle was destroyed when the normandy crash landed
HOW COULD HE OUTRUN HARBINGER??!!!!!!
If there was shuttle how could he fly it and get the crew? you see how fragile jokers legs are and how slow he walks so how could he do that while being fired at by reapers?!!!??!!?
And he was on his way out before the crucible fired
So the crew all the sudden decided "Screw Shepard, Deuces!!"

Aside from their thinking that Shepard is already dead, no, Joker and the rest of the crew manifestly do NOT want to be part of another suicide mission. One suicide mission is enough, and they all said as much when they said their good-byes.

There are many shuttles in the game! There is no reason to assume that joker would have had to fly a shuttle himself down to earth to rescue them. They could have simply retreated on one of the many shuttles and ships that were part of the assault.

I know it's hard to believe, everyone, but Shepard is the hero. There's something special about that character which no other character in the series has the heart and strength to match.
