Fans: Bioware! You were the chosen one! It was said that you would destroy the games that limited choice and stifled attachments to the characters, not join them. You were to bring closure to Shepard's story, not leave it in darkness!
Bioware: I hate you!
Fans: You were my brother, Bioware. I loved you

Just one thing to say :
If everything (and by everything I mean voluntary crappy ending, the "LOT OF SPECULATIONS" thing, the voluntary "non answering" answers on tweeter and the whole "Gave us feedback !" thing) was planned ?
What would be the best ending for Mass Effect other than the ending that fans wrote ? And if Bioware just make this WHOLE mess just to get the most and the best ideas from us ?
Why do they wait for more people to finish the game for making an announcement ? ---> More Feedback.
They're maybe crazy but they're not fools. If they still make fans wait by answering just "We prepare something crazy but we can't tell you." or "Give us Feedback !" if they're just going to announce a simple "Bonus Mission" DLC. It would be a suicide...Even the DemandABetterEnding page on Facebook is strange : Very, very, VERY well organised for a fan made page and that's story with the child's donations, great idea I admit but who would have think of doing this ?
I might be wrong, but I still thinking that all of this is too big to be just Bioware staff saying to themselves "We're such geniuses ! Our ending for Mass Effect 3 is too great ! Let just ask feedback from the angry fans so we could laugh at their lack of understanding !"
If I'm wrong, Bioware will be dead for me.
If I'm right, it's pure genius and the best way to finish Shepard's story.

I correct the few words that could be seen as vulgar, but I still respectful for Bioware. Insulting leads nowhere.

Q: What did you think of the ending? Is this addressed in the story?
A: I've seen the uproar online about the ending and understand the fan perspective. Personally I respect the creative choices the team made and had no problems with how the story ended -- it made you feel something, even if that feeling was uncomfortable.
The Final Hours addresses the challenges BioWare faces in writing a story with defined parameters in a game environment where players want to feel like they have choice. Ultimately your opinion on the ending will depend on who you see as the "author" of Mass Effect's story -- BioWare or the player.
The ending of the game is discussed in the App and there are some notes from the team about how they were thinking about the ending. Since this story was completed before the public release of the game, I do not address the fan petitions or reaction. I hope to update the story with a new chapter on this down the road.

Which essentially means that the endings were completely pointless, as they have no desire to follow up on them.Maj.Pain007 wrote...
So disgusted by BW
"Whatever we do would likely happen before or during the events of Mass Effect 3, not after"
So pretty much the universe will never be expanded upon.... Well I think I'm giving up on BW...

Absolute manure.
I didn't like the ending. For about twenty hours it was the most depressing ending in gaming history jsut because it was so disappointing. Five minutes really can change one's mood.
But hacks? Hacks? Why do you think this rankles so badly? Because the rest of ME3 is 35 solid hours of one of the greatest RPG experiences ever forged in the white-hot furnace of creative fire. People are pissed about the ending not because it's bad, but because the rest of the game is great, not good but legitimately great in a way so few games are, and the ending utterly failed to fulfill the promise that the game made.
So let them fix it. I'll buy whatever DLC they put out, because 99.7% of this game was staggering in its quality. If they fix the ending - because yes, it needs fixing like a willful child needs discipline - then I will be happy to revise that number up to 100%.
Calling them hacks is disengenuous, rude, and meaningless. You're here because they aren't hacks. We're all here because we've seen them produce greatness. We're all disappointed because we wanted more, just another few minutes, and didn't get it.
Exactly. If it had been an artsy series from the beginning, people could understand an ambiguous ending. Look at Dear Esther. The entire damn game is ambiguous and you can barely even call it a game, yet people love it because they know what it is going into it. It's like they had the best sci fi series ever in the best sci fi universe ever and they decided they were going to suddenly try to make the ending a "statement". It's weird.dakphillips wrote...

LOL. The only times I've felt uncomfortable during any type of story has been watching scenes of rape/torture/murder. Want to leave us on an ending thats thought provoking and or ambiguous? Fine. But at least do that while sticking to the parameters and characterizations that you've spent the bulk of the story establishing.
