Mac Walters on the Star Child/Reapers
"Originally, with the catalyst, the star child at the end of the game, I had written that much more in the guise of a investigative style conversation, where there is something he tells you but then, you get to ask a bunch of questions and you get your questions answered. But then me and Casey talked and decided, lets keep the conversation "High level". Give you the details that you need to know, but don't get into the stuff that you don't need to know. Like "How long have they been reaping?" You don't need to know the answers to the mass effect universe. So we intentionally left those out"

Uh, okay. So they really thought that the Star Child justifying its continued mass genocide of sentient species was a good idea.

In fact they thought it was so awesome that they prevent you from asking it any relevant questions. Like "Do you realize that your plan is based on a completely flawed and racist premise that makes Hitler look straightforward and sane by comparison?"

That Bioware does not even realize that trying to essentially foist Mein Kampf on the player as the grand ending of their trilogy speaks poorly of their judgment.

I'm glad they took out the Illusive man boss battle. That just wouldn't fit his character. What makes him threatening is his intelligence and resources, not his fighting abilities.

I actually agree with this completely. Overlooking Harbinger as some sort of final boss, though, I do not like.

I don't know...it was weird enough "fighting" the Destroyers.  Fighting a dreadnaught, especially catnip-laser-happy Harbringer, would be off as well.  I mean, maybe if you're Joker, but no one wants to hear the cracking of tibias with each pass.

@AllisonNorfolk1 Final Hours is a cool look at the dev process and documenting that journey but not the authority on the story/what is canon

She is trying to argue with me about the impact of your choices right now.

i agree a mortal combat style fight woudl be weird i just thought it seemd to be to small a confrontation for the magnitutde of his character.

With all due respect to her and those tweets, my cynicism is telling me it's basically PR, "open ended, you have to think for yourself to try and understand the ending" mantra we've been fed, especially in regards to the "edgy" thing that's being tossed around.

Again, that's just me and my cynicism.

Only if you play enough Multiplayer, right? -.- Do they even realize what they did in their own game?

I see where you're coming from. I was envisioning something closer to the "Sovereign fight," where you're really fighting some 'avatar' of Harbinger that, upon defeat, leaves him vulnerable to, hey why not, the Normandy. Maybe it might've been too obvious of a throwback to ME1 though, particularly if it came right after dealing with the Illusive Man in the manner that they decided (which was a throwback to Saren).

And I agree with this, too. Though I really loved his character, so I'm not sure how much fanfare it would've taken for me to be satisfied with his send off. Something less than direct combat, but more than a clone of Saren's confrontation, I suppose (although the scene was really well done, IMO, so it's hard to hate on it too much).

Wow, definitely one of the biggest hints she's thrown out yet, definitely hints at post-ending DLC.

I don't even know what to say in response to all of this anymore. To say that I am upset would be a monumental understatement (see what I did thar?).

So many hours I spent playing ME1 and ME2. And the 60 or so hours spent in ME3. All for nothing. Absolutely nothing.  We were promised an ending to Commander Shepard's story.  We were promised closure and they purposely denied us.. after promising!  False advertising is not good for your consumer base..

I just.. I just can't believe they screwed up so badly. I mean, how? It just doesn't make sense. How big of a freakin' ego do these guys have?

So disappointed.. needless to say, I am adding my name to the list of folks' who won't be buying another Bioware game for a very long time.

And that:
(a) the Relays are broken so traveling will take a while;
(B) Joker doesn't seem to know where he is, so it's probably uncharted;
© the Castaways aren't rescued anyway because grandpa is telling stories about The Shepard to the kid on that very planet for 800 Bioware points

i can't take much more of this up and down crap. Just release a statement one way or the other and let us know damnit. For all we know she's telling us to head cannon that shep wakes up and goes to get her.

Or...that since Shepard survives at the end of red, that you can headcannon it so Shepard goes and saves her.

I want to believe as much as anyone but this isn't really a hint

Well, they're all getting a bit more loose-lipped lately.

Leads me to believe we'll hear something early next week.

Yeah I agree right now I think bioware should not be cryptic the longer they wait to give a solid response the more angry people will become. Right now since she is only a community manager I kinda view her tweets as damage control.

I agree. I can't take it anymore. Any time I get any hope that this company isn't that GD stupid that they'd release this without some ace up their sleeve something like FINAL HOUR comes out with quotes almost verifying they are that stupid. I really WANT to eat my own foot here... but when this all plays out I hope they realize being dicks to their fans like this is going to cost them in the end.

You sure?  Because, I don't know if it's been mentioned, but this quote pretty much kills any and all hope:

Hudson isn't sure where the series goes next, but he's pretty confident that he never wants to tell any stories that take place in a post-Shepard era. "Whatever we do would likely happen before or during the events of Mass Effect 3, not after," he suggests.

Which is a pretty good indication the ending is the end for Shepard (even with the "alive" teaser).  I'm sure when they're looking at how much they could be making by milking Shepard dry, they'll change their mind ... but at this point, I'm not going to be giving them any money for it. Not for Mass Effect and not for any future RPG.  Not when this is where they've planned to end things all along.

PLEASE tell me they are not going to do the star Wars thing and tell another trilogy on how anderson became admiral or how how TIM became who he was.    We all saw how that turned out.  We got Jar Jar binks out of that.

I know some might see that as "hey maybe there is DLC"

but its more like "use your imagination and just pretend it happens"

:(

yeah, people forget they're under an NDA. they've mentioned "at the end of the month"
more than once, so information might be gradually becoming available for sharing.

The more I keep reading the more I think Bioware is actually oblivious at the moment. It seems their PR spin is to keep trying to say the ending promotes critical thinking. They want to keep driving it home and change the topic from them failing to we aren't using the right perspective. We are using the perspective that they gave us and manipulated. If you have to use Twitter and various other media to change the players perspective instead of the video game it came from to have a critical thinking session then it is a BAD ENDING.
