What else, if anything, ended this badly?

Actually, DD2 might be worst, because you don't have a choices on what happen...you lose no matter what.

Final Fantasy 13-2, well.... that.... .that has no rival really, im sorry.
But... the difference here is that we were just lied to, blatantly. Oh, and i accept the endings, even like them (if i can ignore the crap with the Normandy). They alone are proof that all weve been told the ending would give us was a lie.
Wonder if there will ever be a time when we can get refunded for fraud in cases like this, would make developers think before they speak.... well, they barely speak already. >_>

i'd say FO3 had a bad ending, but that entire games story was stupid and made no sense, sure the game itself was great, but come on, the good guys and bad guys in that game had exactly the same motivation, goals and methods. they were simply different factions rofl.
No no the bad guys killed people for no reason, I killed people for money... wait that probably came out wrong.
not seeing a big difference here
If you mean the knight guys they also wanted all remaining technology for themself so they were a bit worse.

But none of them hurt as much as this, because they didn't promise varied endings tailored to the experience of your Shepard. They were fixed narratives that I didn't have any control over. I wasn't as invested in them as I was in ME.

The Dark Tower series. On the other hand, that one at least ended with a ray of hope, with Roland finding Cuthbert's horn and hints that the cycle is almost complete.

That's actually what i thought of. Unexplained existensialism BS in the original ending, badassery in the "fixed" ending.

That, I still believe, is the central problem with ME ending. We don't need "answer's" to the reapers motivations. We don't need a gigantic twist to explain how the reapers can be defeated. We didn't stick with this series because of "the mystery of the catalyst/reapers". We stuck to this game series because we fell in love with the characters.
That's what we all wanted to see....see what ultimately happens to the characters and get closure with them.

Relative to what came before? I can't think of anything.

Of course nothing I can think has gone from good to bad so quick. The last few hours of ME3 don't hold up to the rest of the game, and London was clearly rushed, but the endings are shockingly bad. I'd give London a 6 or a 7, then it shoots down to a .5 when you start talking to that ****ing kid.

Lost. No TV show has ever angered me more, other than BSG.
I loved the BSG ending. All the important questions were answered, with the ideal amount of room for interpretation.

Edit: Saw Matrix on other ppls list, have to add it in. That one I refused to acknowledge it's exitance...
Avatar: Last Airbender (TV Series) almost pulled this on me with Giant Lion Turtle Bender Magic, but they charged straight into that absurdity with a straight face and pulled it off by sheer force of will.

Maybe I've just had a lucky and good life, but this ending ranks up there as one of the biggest disappointments of my life.

I'm putting forth the theory that this entire thing was a dream Shepard had while was trapped under rubble back on Akuze/Torfan/Elysium and the entire trilogy occured in a snowglobe.
