Has the ME3 story discussion board just been locked down?

But Chris is right here, it got heated pretty fast, and even if most of us stayed reasonable there were people who started to spout insults. After what happend not to long ago, it's got that it was stopped before it got really ugly. The Thread in question gained multiple pages by the minute and definately started to spiral out of control.
That said, keep fighting the good fight! Show that we deserve the "Paragons of Protest" moniker!

You idiots! don't you realise what you've all done?
By lashing out you've just blown the one thing we had from the community and world respectively: pity. We were being cast as the underdogs, and then you're all blowing the image of all of us apart! Bioware tactics or not, we're losing our assets the more you all keep giving out aggression to the devs.
Keep this civil, or we lose everything. If you really were here for the sake of ME3's future, and you aren't just jumping on the hate wagon for giggles, then you should know that yelling is only making us LOSE ground. We want to win, we need to hold our ground and keep our civility.
They. Only. Care. About. Your. MONEY.
They don't give a damn about your civility or feelings.
I wasn't referring to Bioware, I was referring to the massive amount of assets we had, which now I am sure are reconsidering their side on this argument. Peer pressure is what will decide how this is won or lost. We turn into a bunch of unorganised rabble, we lose all our respect, our reputation and our assets. There is the possibility that Bioware set us up for this. Guerilla-style politics: trigger a reaction from the opposition that causes all their supporters to lose faith in them.
THAT is why we are being civil. Because it's the only thing keeping us in this. You're right, as a company, Bioware only cares about money, as all companies should to remain floating. Peers will put them under pressure by using this to their advantage by saying "we'd never do that to our customers" and then everyone floods to their products. It's how the business works.

Instead to give the community an answer it deserves...
They lock down the section and blaming some people for it.
Come on give us an answer allready. We will hold the line
till you do so. Many people are rightfully outraged about
what you called the ending of ME 3. So now right NOW
is the time to redeem yourself. Dont ease use with non
saying statments like we listen... We had a big debackel with
DA 2.
Please this time you have the chance to do the right thing!
We supported you Bioware over all this years. Now is the
time to show us that we actually matter to you.
So long hold the line

But I also support the "boycot" people are talking about. Seeing how are they managing things both in the forums and in the games just made me realize that as far as they have my money they don't care about my opinion on the product. I'm not buying again from them and my ME3 copy is going to meet his brothers on gamestop.

Agreed, there are rules here, they crossed them?
Ban them, even thou all they are is really reaching their patience limit.
Locking down the forum for that is like asking everyone who did nothing wrong to just shut up.
This is how I feel. I was calm, my last post was just saying that not buying Bioware products is a good way to portest, hit em in the wallet, which is our right as consumers.
I get locked out. Now I'm just PISSED. Now I've gotten to the point where I plan to never give them a single penny. Yet even now I'm not insulting, just letting them know how I'll be spending my money.

No one's "banned." The forums are just closed from any and all posting while he "cleans up" the thread by banning people that broke the zero tolerance policy for abuse of Bioware employees. Or at least that's what it seems like.
Probably a bad PR move. He could have just banned the individuals involved and left it at that. The *majority* aren't breaking any rules, even if there's a lot of passion flying around in that thread.
No no no. He was already banning people before he locked it. There was someone saying we should vote it down and provided a link to amazon and he was GONE.

As far as I can tell it has nothing to do with the content in the app or thread. It has everything to do with some people unable to control their emotions.
But I think that shutting down the whole forum
was the wrong move; it should have been a thread lock, and possible
bans. To quote Kaidan, "That might have been a little extreme,
Commander."
I've never seen a forum in which complete shut down of a specific hot-button topic resulted in a positive response; since it is an entire forum and not just a thread, and since there was an official from earlier today that acknowledged the fan reaction, locking the whole forum made it seem like they were trying to prevent any further discussion, on any topic.
I do not know what issues there were that necessitated a forum lock rather than a thread lock, so I am willing to take Priestly at face value when he says that it needed to be done -- but I'm not surprised that people are upset about it.
Maybe. But again this isn't just one thread. It's a symbol of the greater issues currently plaguing BSN. It may have been a bad call. If it was, it was. We all make them and I think it's good to tell Chris we think so if that's what it looks like. The point is, we're allowed to tell him that because we keep it civil.
The fact is personal attacks and over-the-top raging has been going on for months. A lot of it targeting Bioware employees. That's not a healthy atmosphere to work in and no one should ever have to ask someone to work in it. They've already tried updating their TOS and posting the update persistantly on the page. It's obviously not getting through peoples heads. Right now, for better or worse, whether we agree or disagree...there is an absolute unmistakable zero tolerence policy on certain kinds of language.
They are trying, at least from my perspective, to hammer this into peoples heads BEFORE tons of people suddenly get banned and start screaming "BUT HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW!?". It is in its own way an attempt to protect us. Whether we agree that its the best move is another matter.

Chris is just the forum god. He isn't at fault. He's doing his best. It's like yelling at the receptionist for something someone down in billing did wrong. It's not their fault, and if you're civil they'll do the best they can to send you to the right department. Or yelling at the cashier because their store doesn't carry an item you want anymore.

From all i know there was just a very quickly scribbled draft, of which there could be hundreds more that tell a different ending they used.aksoileau wrote...
So did this behind the scenes basically say the endings are working as intended and won't be changed?

What really surprises me here is, how they made a really good game and then totally messed up the ending.
After DA2 (Which I didn't think that bad) I'd either expected them turning out more flawed games like it or really going at it and return their games to their old glory.
To see them doing so well, just to fail at the finish line is unbelievable.

People were angry and a few lashed out at staff members but most people were just venting. Just because it got heated and hectic doesn't mean we all "stepped over the line". It was an immediate reaction to the new information posted and people would've calmed down without intervention in time.
If certain members broke the rules, ban them. Don't institute a forum lock down that'll only serve to wind people up more.
This.
