Hi all, just got a few  questions about character types for this great looking game.

1. In doing a War, is it possible to focus on being an archer? Is it viable to play that way; will we get enough up front tanks to allow archer dps, or is archer dps not strong enough?

2. Can 2H Dps be strong enough or is Sword & Board better if I have my main guy up front?

3. Do we get to choose how our NPC's lvl their talents and stats? Say like in previous games of this type (IWD, or Wizardry, you got to customize your whole party, is that the case here, or do you just work up your main?)

4. Is it worth putting points into a craft? Can an NPC fill that role?

Again, sorry if this is redundant, thanks for any advice.

What is a better startup for first time play Mage or War?

I don't think so, I thought this was the character creation forum? And my questions revolve around character creation and development.

Well, to the topic at hand, Just start with whatever class u like, only difference is that mage has only 1 origin, while warriors got 5, so take a pick, altrough i can't recommend the Dalish one...

as for diong an archer warrior, i'd rather leave that for rogues, since they got dex, and they can stealth, just browse this forum for it, personally i like the 2h talents much, but sword and board style talents are nice also. and yes, u can distribute the points yourself or let the comp do it(have u even played the game yet??)

As for the skill as the "crafts" are called, just take one that u think is handy like poisonmaking for your warrior and rogue and herbalism for the mage, some races/classes already begin with points in 1 skill, so if u build that out is up to u. and u lvl your companions just like your main, so aside from some racial difference(like Sten) its the same, so build them out to fill in whatever u want them to do, altrough some already start in a sertain talent tree, so build those out. the game does't have a way in how to unlearn talents and such, but there is a mod out who can do that for u, works great. just check the download section.
