DA is much more taxing on the CPU than those other games.
Though if it played it fine before, my guess would be that dust has piled up since then. It's shocking how little it takes to cause serious problems.

Yeah, there have been multiple posts of Dragon Age just switching off peoples PCs. Later we find out they have two years of dust built up in the CPU heat sink =)

hm i cleaned my cpu cooler (it did not have that much dust in it,i tend to clean my pc 2x a year)...the thermal paste is wore out at 1 spot,and i believe that is the cause...anyways i found some paste at home,applied it,cleaned that little dust i had and the game now works,,2 hours stable gameplay...and prime95 handled it ok
i guess its just one of those things,my processor is about 3 years old,i basically never shut down my pc because im always seeding something or downloading overnight. the paste wore out
anyways thank you all for pointing to me that this is a processor issue and it is a heat issue after all
may this thread shed some light on other unfortunate users that encounter this same problem

Great thread.
My PC would play most things fine but would power off while playing DA.
I tried Prime95 as suggested and it powered down almost immediately.
Checked and I didn't have my CPU fan secured that well.
Wrestled it into a better position and Prime95 is running fine. I am guessing that DA will be fine now also.
I just wanted to post to keep this thread out there for others, since it helped me.
