Until ME3 and it crap ending, I had ME1 and 2 on my system with the idea that I might yet play them again. They are no longer on my system and I have UNregistered my ME3. There is no motivation or desire to play it at all. All gone with the flash of a full retard ending. Bioware went full retard and EVERYONE knows you don't go full retard.
What is with the critics?

Been at work, managed to read a few paragraphs but got busy. I'll read the rest when I get home.LinksOcarina wrote...
Yes, its the one I wrote. I didn't think I needed to say so though because I am fairly open about being a contributer for a review site. My apologies.
Okay I read the whole thing now and it's a pretty good review. Honest, mostly complete, well balanced. Not like those big-name sites at all. I find it to be something I can agree with on several points. I disagree with some points, but mostly in a mild fashion on matters of opinion or interpretation.. except for that ending..
That being said, I am opinionated so here we go.
"The actual storyline was never a high water mark for Mass Effect, following the traditional tropes of good vs. evil common in the high fantasy/space opera genre."
I think that is a bit of an oversimplification since a lot of the decisions put Shepard in predicaments of morality (you even say as much in the first sentence of page 2
"But it was the journey, not the destination, that made it worthwhile trip to go on."
Hmm, I dunno. I'm tempted to disagree. The journey is a great experience for the most part, but the story is also one big buildup to the destination, the reason WHY Shepard and Co. are fighting, not just about the characters, their lives, their development (even though that is an integral part, and a wonderful one at that). Any journey needs a good climax and resolution. ME3 completely fails at that. I'm very pleased with the other 99% of the game though aside from some minor niggling things like the controls (see below).
"In most cases, it boils down to adding war assets to your cause."
You mean in every single case that has any effect on the ending. Every, single, choice, that actually gets imported from ME1 or ME2, and doesn't get resolved or tied off during ME2 or ME3 but that still affects your War Readiness, boils down to Space Points. That's it. Space Points and RGB. Oh sure there are implied differences depending on which color you choose but since there is no freaking epilogue whatsoever, for all intents and purposes the end is identical for all playthroughs with all characters no matter what any of your decisions were during the trilogy because as long as you have enough magic Space Points you get the exact same options to choose from.
"So you can go decked out with the heaviest weapons you can find and barely use your powers, or go in with a dinky little Shuriken submachine gun and spam overloads and warp attacks to your heart’s content."
Hey, I love my trusty Shuriken.
"The controls are basically refined to make combat as dynamic as possible, although the mapping of both cover and the roll button is a bit cumbersome on the 360 controller. But this is a minor complaint if anything, as the system allows a lot more flexibility for movement and combat that was never seen in the franchise before."
Eugh, and on the keyboard too.. Why oh why couldn't they have LEARNED from the Demiurge port of ME1... Still, indeed a pretty minor complaint considering the addition of rolling and whatnot (well for me anyway since I remapped from the disastrous default controls; I've heard others have issues with the defaults).
"Currently, some have claimed that you need to play the multiplayer to get the best ending of Mass Effect 3. While it is true that playing the mode does improve your chances of success, as far as I have been able to see it is possible to get the best ending in the game without playing it, although this is, of course, dependent on which of the currently lackluster endings you prefer. If this is a true claim though, it is one that should be remedied, since it was promised that the multiplayer would not affect the outcome of the game like this."
I *think* that someone worked out that you need to do a ridiculously completionist playthrough of all 3 games and stick to very specific dialog choices and big decisions (i.e. railroaded into pure paragon with a few exceptions or something like that which is really not fun for player choice) in order to get enough assets to offset the 0.5 multiplier. But then again I have not seen anyone present direct proof one way OR the other so definitely don't quote me on that; the point being it's really hard.
"graphical department"
Eh, I disagree. I think for the most part it has aged just fine. Although don't get me started on the way Unreal 3 calculates specular highlights for lighting (omg raaage). (I work in game art with UE3 for some projects.)
"There is also a major glitch right now that prevents the faces of previously created characters importing properly into Mass Effect 3. While it is not a deal breaker to me personally, many have been very vocal about the bug and thankfully, BioWare is working on a permanent fix to this problem."
This is extremely important. If it weren't for the fact that there were community tools that can read the save files and extract important face data that allows you to recreate your Shepard (uh, mostly.. except for the parts they actually removed like certain facial features which is a big problem for some people who therefore truly can't recreate the face) then I wouldn't have even played the game. It took me 3 hours to find a working solution after I had already waited several hours for the game to download and install through Origin which was extremely aggravating. This is a massive failure of QA to catch this issue before the release candidate went gold. Hopefully the patch works well because I, and thousands of other people, really don't want to do it manually for every imported character (I have 8). Although that ending.. geez what's the point of even importing the other 7 if the ending is always the same...
