No, Prince of Persia 2008 has the worst ending ever. Then they added an Epilogue DLC for $10 that made things even worse and opened so many more questions than answers.

I've never played a game which had an ending which made me never want to play that game again. There's games I've never played again due to crap story, crap gameplay, whatever. But never has the ending in and of itself made me feel this way, until now.
Not only that, it's so strong I don't even want to play it's two prequels.

It gets close to Fallout 3 ending, but at least Bethesda fixed it. Oh, and the Dreamfall one (The Longest Journey II) where IIRC was intended to be in some DLC that was never released.
People always complain about the Fallout 3 ending, I thought it was alright really. It was nothing compared to what I've just witnessed, chalk and cheese in comparison.

With ME3 you have a complete and utter failing to live up to expectations. Moreover the whole narrative was changed from user driven to star child driven and that is the real problem here. No one wanted a forced Disney ending. Don't get me wrong people wanted a chance to have that ending as well as the reapers reap everything ending. However people wanted it to be their Shepard and their story. This is why the starchild is not accepted that and the writing that really leads you to believe that indoctrination, hallucination/death something else was the actual ending.
SO in short:
1. Lousy writing.
2. High Expectations
3. Changing the focus from User Choice to Preordained Starchild makes this the worst.
It really is a shame too because Mass Effect 2 remains one the best games I have ever played. This game was living up to that until that Starchild sequence. Afterwards I really can't look at my old disks anymore. Its such a shame.

I would agree if prince of persia 2008 had anything to do with the sands of time saga, but since its a stand alone title i believe mass effect is worse, considering this is the ending of a whole series. But yeah, Mass Effect 3 it's pretty much the worst ending i've seen in a game.

But that doesn't excuse the fact that it's just plain bad. It's definitely the worst that BioWare has ever done (if BioWare is in fact even responsible for this ending).

But ME3 was suppose to be MORE than that. It was the end of a TRILOGY, the end of one character's epic story against all odds that was promised to end without all the usual bull**** you get from some game endings.
Instead of getting closure and all questions answered and a sense that our choices mattered ((like promised)) we got a truly epic series that was easily going to be considered one of the greatest of ALL TIME, that suddenly, decides to slam the door in our face. Worst ending for a game ever? No. Worst ending for what has been a defining series in this generation? HELL YES!!!

What it does have is the worst [writing of the ending] / [writing of the rest of the game] ratio however. Which makes its ending sting more than it would have otherwise.

But let's not forget the gem that was KotOR II. That sucked big time.

Since the whole series was that good up to it just makes it that much worse, and it makes playing the game, and the 2 before it obsolete.
Worst ending ever.

Yes I think its the worst because the bar with this company was set so high. At least with Obsidian Entertainment and KoToR 2 they could say that as a company they were relatively young. I say relatively because many of them all of a sudden had to wear new hats.

Well said, although I'd also add that every decision you have ever made not only has no impact on the finale, but are all made entirely obsolete. Everyone/everything dies (or lives through plot holes) and everything is "reset": basically what Shepard was fighting against the entire series. And I cop out so that none of your actions have any consequences whatsoever.

It's such an about face from not only the rest of the game, but also the two games that preceded it. Couple that with it was supposedly the end of Shep's story, and that there's absolutely no closure and only vague implications and you've got an unmitigated disaster of an ending.
