Killsteal implies a level of competition. In a Co-op game such as this, it doesn't bother me.

I'd rather have it dead rather than shooting me, no matter who kills it.

No, No, No, NO, NO, NO, NO, and NO.

The single best way to hold a position is to work with teammates and concentrate fire. Tech explosions and biotic explosions are much more difficult to use if you aren't working together with at least one other player.

That said, don't be a dick and play against another player. If you have two players trying to use biotic powers together don't keep Overloading the enemies they are attacking. If a Krogan is trying to go into Rage mode by meleeing weaker enemies don't shoot their targets. If a Infiltrator is trying to drop a Guardian by shooting through the slot on its shield don't stagger it.

Just use common sense and common courtesy and everyone wins.

Killstealing only matters to those who need bragging rights to boost their ego.  True story.

Only bothers me when I'm using a bolt action sniper and all of a sudden my target's gone flying across the map, dead, my shot's gone wild and now I have to reload. There are lots of targets, let me hit a few! Especially when I'm lining up two or three which I know I can shoot right through.

Wait I don't get the concept of "kill stealing".

If I'm the one who killed it, why is it "your" kill?

At first, when I just started the game, I would get a little peeved at Vanguards charging around everywhere and killing things before I could line up my crosshairs.

Then, it wasn't a matter of me thinking of it as killstealing. It made me feel like dead weight on the team, useless.

Now, after seeing Silver difficulty with moderate enthusiasm, I know that I'll have more than enough opportunities to prove my worth to the team. The resident Tali won't be dead-weight for long

It only really annoys me when the level 4 human male Vanguard jumps in and Biotic explodez all my pulled guys. Otherwise I try to get the highest score as a personal competition.

I get more annoyed at loitering people that don't do squat than someone finishing off something I didn't. Steal my kills all you want as long as the enemy is cleared as fast as possible.

"What the hell? Aw, c'mon, don't steal my kill. God, you're such an @sshole." - Some guy yesterday doing the tango with a Brute when I popped its head off with my BF3 soldier's carnage. I laughed, then spent the rest of the match stealing all his kills.

"Kill stealing" is an idiotic concept. There is no record of your total number of kills, in a match, the post-game menu or anywhere else. Points for a kill are allocated according to the damage dealt by each player, so the player who gave an enemy the biggest kicking gets the most points. The guy I quoted got most of the points for the Brute being neutralised. The aim of this game is to shoot anything that moves. It's your fault if you can't finish an enemy quick enough because you're too busy trying to do your fancy biotic zumba hand slap melee on him.

As one who plays some melee focused types, I find it cool when a splattering power hits my target right when I land the blow... looks like I splattered em with my bare hands.  Chuck Norris style.

But, yeah, the concept of killstealing is dumb in a game that everyone splits the same damn pie at the end anyways.  Also, there have been times where Im playing something that is a 'setup' character.  I soften the guys up, and team mates finish them.  Most get it, and happily 'steal' the kill from me.  Then, it will irritate me when we are working that way and I'm just a softening em up, and I move on to next targets and other guys don't take the kill.

I usually never even think twice about it..but today I was rolling a drell adept which I had just unlocked and was going around pull+reave comboing in packs to get the explosion except...every single geth I pulled was INSTANTLY sniped by some dude who would follow me around and wait for the easy shot. I barely got any explosions off and it was actually annoying me, though I'm not sure if it's the fact that he was kill stealing or straight up not letting me play correctly :P

As a sniper, it can sometimes be hard to tell when I'm kill stealing and when I'm saving someone's ass. I usually headshot or cloak-snipe so that I take all their health in one hit to avoid any confusion.

It just bugs me if it means someone's wasting shots. I'll have gotten someone near dead on my own, no danger to myself, when suddenly a Widow shot knocks his head off. Your damage output is obscene, why the hell aren't you hitting any of the other enemies with full health?

It doesn't bother me so much, unless they're trying to one-man gold or are spending all their time just waiting for your target to be low enough to kill before sniping/blasting it to take the kill. There is no way you can solo the higher difficulties, as long as you're not being a jackass and doing as little work as possible or falling down every 10 seconds because you keep throwing yourself in the danger then it's fine.

Actually, we all get the same experience at the end of match regardless of who does the kill just like any RPG or MMO, experience is equally shared... the individual points just show how much each person contributed

already tested this soloing bronze matches & in 4 player bronze groups... same amount of experience at end of runs in solo as well as in 4 player matches
despite
killing all the mobs myself and actually had less experience than 4 player runs since the other players bonuses (like headshots, reviving, kill streaks, etc) didn't exist anymore to add to mine

ergo, play w/ more people to get more more experience since you will get their experience point bonuses also

Nobody cares about "kill stealing" in Gold. You just want it to stop shooting at you.

It is rather irritating, mostly because they can't take out a target on their own and as such insist on shoulder-shooting. All in all, it's a bad tactic because it means one area is far less protected. On a large target like a banshee or a phantom, it's expected to get assists, but when fighting infantry, the plan is to have all the flanks and PoEs covered. When all of your team is firing at the SAME target, they can't be covering the flanks and thus the team ends up getting swamped and killed off/taken down.
