I want my xp.

And I have enough assists thank you.

XP is shared between everyone, so it doesn't actually matter that someone else killed it.

It doesn't bother me unless for some unknown reason i'm trying to set up Biotic Combos on things that it would honestly have just been faster to shoot them with my pistol. In which case, I probably should have just shot them in the head with my pistol.

You DO get XP bonuses for kills though... 25 kills, 50 kills, 75 kills.  You just ALSO get them for assists.

True, but using your logic as soon as you get 75 kills you should stop killing anything, so you can get assist medals and let others get kill ones.

I doubt you do that, though =P

Not to long ago I got yelled at by doing a finishing blow on a Brute with my Asari Vanguard. The dude seriously went ape **** on me. I was like "okay...sorry?"

Another thing, say your a salarian with drain, and you attack a phantom. Phantoms barrier is down and is in melee range. the LAST thing I want the soldier with carnage to say is "it would be rude to steal your kill, so i'll go over here".

Even if the situation wasn't so dire, I would much prefer to move onto another enemies shields while an ally focused on health damage kills the other half of the enemy

my view is, if someones but-hurt over a kill steal, I really couldn't care less what they feel. It's a plain and pure sign they don't care about me, the team, or the game.

The only thing I would have said is the standard credo: "It's not kill stealing, it's kill helping". If he went on to going berserk after that, I know he's a n00b and not worth debating with. Naturally, as soon as the game is over, I quit the lobby and find someone with sense to play with.

..i wonder how many people know that all points are divided equally at the end of the match? (Not 100% sure, was during demo)

I also wonder how many people know that the points you get are for the amount of damage done to an enemies health..There is absolutely NO tally ANYWHERE, no leaderboards, worldwide or at the end of a game that displays your total kills. theres 1-2 acheivements for it, but nothing else

Yep, we all get the same experience total

Bioware is true to it's RPG roots so that in multiplayer, like all
MMO-RPGS, EVERYONE in the party/squad GETS ALL THE SAME EXPERIENCE,
regardless of who does the actual killing

-So you DON"T have to worry about
kill-stealing anymore -- this is fair & important since some classes
with their decoys & crowd controls  won't rack up as much kills

--so it doen'st matter if
someone gets 100 kills & you get 0 kills, 0 assists --you still get
ALL the same experience total.

At the end of the match, everyone's score is totaled into the squad total
experience & the entire squad gets its all equally.

The leaderboards & different bar lengths just show how much each person contributed
to the total that everyone gets

this is the opposite of CoD or BF3 where only your individual kill counts

I actually did that to a guy once because he wouldn't shut up about me "kill stealing".

He didn't find it nearly as hilarious as I did.

I never bothered, tbh. Nice to be on top of the list, but eh. As long as we survive 10+extraction and get the assignements done as quick as possible, everything went fine.

It is not the kill stealing that really bothers people, that is just the displaced reason. What bothers people are the teammates who wait to shoot ANY enemies until the very last second to steal kills. It pisses me off because they are basically doing NOTHING until they steal a kill...

Ah, sweet revenge. I know that, done that it myself a couple of times. It's funny how quick people turn from hating you for "kill-stealing" to hating you for "not [kill] helping". Shame those people are normally not the ones capable of grasping the sweet, oh so sweet irony.

No, not really.

Though it can be annoying if you're playing Adept (example) and throw a warp at an enemy, in a crowd and your teammate/s shoot the one who's warped instead of the other 5 while you wait for Throw to recharge. But other than that I couldn't care less. I want to win, the Assists medal is worth a nice load of XP anyway.

I don't mind it unless they're disrupting important biotic detonations, like killing a Warped guy in the center of a clustered group of enemies.

Theres hundreds more to kill, no point complaining. Only time its frustrating is on my Krogan sentinel when i need that last kill to get Rage up so I can go melee the brute/Atlas/ entire enemy team and keep them away from my squishies and someone pops them so I dont get Rage and all the lovely dmg boost/resist it brings :D

Usually the second time I like to stand there and just go "Do you want help this time around? I'm never sure if you want help on the kill or if that would be stealing".

Offtopic: Your sig has made me realize something. Out of ME2's planet scanning, ME3's planet scanning/reaper chases, and ME1's Mako Exploration, I actually like the Mako the most of the 3.

It still handles like a drunken man trying to maneuver a shopping chart on a trampoline, though.

There is no kill stealing in co-op, especially when you're heavily rewarded if you do the most damage to an enemy.

That said, I do always laugh a little when I snipe something a Krogan is charging at.

I'm with you.  The point distribution is screwed up.  I'd drain banshees and primes all on my own and someone would always come in at the last second and it would say +68 assist on my screen.  Though I could care less about how much points I have, I can usually tell when someone is waiting to shoot at the end.

KSing only bothers me when I'm setting up a biotic combo, and someone kills it with non-biotics. Especially when my second ability is en route to detonate the combo...

I don't mind someone using Throw on the mob I've Warped, or the mob floating in Singularity since a) I get credit for the biotic explosion and B) it makes an AoE explosion... further damaging units around it.

But when a mob or two is floating around in my Singularity... it's a dick move to snipe it when my Warp is on it's way. Or if on my Sentinel and I'm waiting on Warp CD to use Throw. Why people bother to kill the half health mob that they know I'm going to kill anyway instead of use the Tac Cloak > headshot on something with more health (like say a Pyro or a Marauder... instead of a Cannibal or Assault Trooper...) is beyond me.

I'm kinda surprised to see so many people upset about this honestly.  All I care about is clearing and extracting as quickly and painlessly as possible so I can get my monies.

I might grr and argh here and there but on the whole it doesn't bother me because you "steal" mine and 10 seconds later I will "steal" yours right back and the best part and the end of the round, it doesn't matter, we SHARE all the xp.

Only time I'd get actively mad was when I was playing my krogan solider in the demo and was trying to chain melee's for rage mode and the same a-hole would keep stealing my kills, thus actively denying me my rage. Well, in game rage at least, lol.

I can't stand the krogan solider or solider of any kind anymore though. I haven't even tried it in the full game. But, it still has the best melee animations of the group I must say.

^ This.

Now I want to go play ME1, again. Oh, the armor and weapon upgrades in that game are soooo satisfying :3 But yeah, driving a Mako over a rock planet can be frustrating. I remember playing ME1 with my 8 year old cousin, cruising some random planet. He asked my why I was driving so bad. "IT'S NOT ME, IT'S THE GAME!!"

I kind of have an issue, such as when I'm trapped somewhere and I try setting up a biotic explosion in the middle of a crowd and out of all the mobs, someone snipes my target, ruining my work and getting me killed.

Only a problem if in their zeal to take on what I have covered they neglect the other enemies. Sloppy play in that case.

Yeah, that is annoying I must admit but I've also been the noob shooting the floating enemies too when playing with randoms, most of them don't have the recharge rate to actively biotic boom kill something themselves so I don't wait to see, just KILL IT! KILL IT DEAD!
