Yeah, that is annoying I must admit but I've also been the noob shooting the floating enemies too when playing with randoms, most of them don't have the recharge rate to actively biotic boom kill something themselves so I don't wait to see, just KILL IT! KILL IT DEAD!
Heh, that's why I check people's weapons in lobby. Adept's shouldn't be running anything more than a single pistol. +200% recharge rate is legit.
The most annoying thing about it is if I trap 2-3 mobs from a large group in Singularity, fire off a Warp... and someone snipes the one I fired Warp at. GG, now we just lost a boatload of AoE damage on 5+ targets because you can't wait 2 seconds between headshots.
More to the point: They should be headshotting a target that isn't in the singularity. Or that Phantom that ignored the singularity and is steadily flipping her way towards your adepts.
When I'm playing an Engineer, I don't find "kill-stealing" annoying since I'm actually going for disruption/distraction rather than kills. Strip the shields/barriers off, get unprotected enemies stunned, etc. I may pick off a few with my pistol or smg, but otherwise I'm setting things up so my teammates can kill things easier.
Infiltrators, it gets a bit annoying. Though as I've noted elsewhere, I can understand if someone doesn't know I'm lining up a headshot on that target, though if I hit it with cryo blast that should be a big hint. Perhaps sniper rifles should get that red targetting beam the Nemesis has so others know you're lining up a shot on a target.
I get more annoyed when my infiltrator gets to an object to enable/disable, engages cloak and a teammate stands right next to me and doesn't pick off the assault trooper. Then the trooper throws a grenade at him.
EDIT: Forgot one more annoyance. If your Infiltrator is aiming their rifle at a group of targets downrange... DO NOT GET IN FRONT OF THEM. Sheesh....

The bad part of it is everyone focusing fire on something that really doesn't need focused fire. For example, there's a Phantom running amok, but OMFG three people ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO kill the Assault Trooper herp derping in the corner. And then there's people that REALLY don't know their roles. Like Vanguards and Soldiers attacking a Guardian. From the front. Really? Leave Guardians to Infiltrators or Engineers with Combat Drones. You aren't going to kill anything by emptying clip after clip or charging a Guardian's shield. There's 20 bajillion guys over there that you can kill in two seconds, rather than the five minutes you waste shooting at something you can't easily handle.
Exception: If they have that mod that penetrates armor. I got the lvl 1 version of that for an assault rifle. Found I could kill a Guardian pretty easily with that. Took a bit more shots, but the damage gets through and they do die.
Otherwise, I use a sniper rifle or an attack that staggers them and makes them move their shield to the side. Then aim for the head.

Also, the game does a pretty good job with kill points. I only get a little bit of xp if I shot the guy once and that was the kill shot.

Also, the shield/barrier to life/armor balance is way off.
For example, if someone takes off all of an Atlas's shields and half of his life, and then someone with a widow pops in one or two shots for the kill, they'll get around the same points.
But no, this doesn't actually bother me. Nonetheless, I find myself trying to last hit enemies for this reason. However, I won't waste time shooting a 10% hp assault trooper with my widow unless he's the last enemy left.

I try to remember letting vanguards charge their target if I see their intention, and not to unnescessarily "help" someone who has it under complete control. I do tend to spam Overload and steal kills because it's instant.

So, yeah, kill stealing pisses me off, but mostly because those who do it intentionally generally make things harder for all involved.

Are you bothered when a teammate makes the finishing blow on an enemy you're trying to kill?
I'm kinda surprised to see so many people upset about this honestly. All I care about is clearing and extracting as quickly and painlessly as possible so I can get my monies.
I couldn't be less upset. This is war and I value every assist I get and every assist I provide. Best MP game I have had yet was where an Infiltrator focused on sniping and I as an Adept provided coverfire by taking out those coming close. Best moments in MP for me is that kind of cooperation.

And then on the opposite I've weakened an Atlas or Banshee to 2 bars of armor left and then somebody else grabs it, but I could not possibly care less, I am just glad the nasty thing is out of the way and wont kill anyone anymore.
I also instinctively prioritize targets that I know will probably catch somebody pants down, I dont want to risk a Phantom, Combat Engineer or Geth Hunter/Pyro flanking half the team and killing everyone.
If they get upset because I headshot "their" Phantom when it's one metre from doing the instant kill move, they should probably go back to Bronze. Or try desperately shooting it with their pistol themselves and then explain on VOIP why they just bled to death. I'd probably get the blame anyway. Narcissism at its most basic.
I'm OK with some petty person from halfway across the world being angry at me anyway if it means I get the full credit reward for finishing the mission and thus closer to another Spectre pack, as opposed to wiping on Wave 6 or something else incomprehensibly stupid.

I'd rather succeed than top the chart. I've been voted out of lobbies following a devastating performance, the Call of Duty mentality has infected peoples' thinking and made them really dumb.
But when you find the right people who strive for unit cohesion, it makes it all worth it.

You get lots of assist points, they get the kill points, and at the end ALL OF YOU GET ALL OF THE POINTS COMBINED.
All the points each player gets are added, and each player gets that amount. Its irrelevant who has the most points. So its actually better to do this - one person getting kill points is less beneficial to the team than one person getting kill points and one or two getting assist points.
As an infiltrator, I will normally hang back and either rush the objectives, heal people, or shoot any enemy I see regardless of how close to death they are. Everyone gets the kill points for it at the end anyway, so I might as well ensure that we all get some assist points too.
And I often play as a engineer too, where I'm a support guy - I rarely get kills but get a ton of assist points, so I know how it feels to have a load of my kills 'stolen'. And I'm fine with it, as everyone else should be.

Also, it doesn't matter who lands the final blow, you still get points based off the damage you did..

Also, if I'm going for a biotic/tech explosion, and again someone steals the kill, I get angry again.
In both cases, I get angry because a teammate is not allowing me to use my full potential, essentially costing us time.
