It simply doesnt work in Multiplayer.
I just unlocked level 1 ULM and placed it on my Hornet, and in the "weapons" section combined with my Predator pistol it DOES say I have 200% cooldown. HOWEVER when going to the actual "Powers" section, it shows each individual power with ~0.20 seconds MORE than what 200% cooldowns should give.
To make a long story short, it simply doesnt work, and needs to be fixed. I hope sooner than later, because I've had the Hornet for awhile now and simply can justify using it given the incredibly heavy nature of it, but with Ultralight Materials I thought I'd finally be able to use it... only to find I cant due to an error in coding.

Fix please - Hopefully a dev will be willing to comment simply to acknowledge the issue so I can know its at least being looked at, and in the process of being fixed.
Just kinda stinks to have one of the more "rare" mods (silver) end up being completely useless.

Hmmm. It seems to work in-game though. It might just be an error in the calculator displayed in the Powers menu.
My cooldowns definitely match what the Weapon selection says when I utilize SMG Ultralight materials.

Did you actually TIME this?
Because I just did... and let me make it clear... it does *NOT* work ingame.
Powers Menu States 3.15 seconds for cooldowns on Overload and Incinerate (should be MUCH lower with ULM~2.75 seconds), and when timed ingame I was getting anywhere from 2.9 seconds - 3.3 seconds, with the most consistent time being 3.2 seconds. I timed at least 20 seperate times to make sure it wasnt just my poor stopwatch timing, and as I said, I got 3.2 seconds near 10 out of the 20 times, which is just about where the cooldowns listed in my powers menu places them at.
Other people have made posts in the MP forum about this, and stated theirs didnt work ingame either.
It is broken and needs fixing. Please fix this, as I cant imagine its not that terribly hard to correct. (Not that SMGs are really that great, but I like having a backup weapon and ULM would make that feasible on some caster classes).

I made a thread about this on the xbox forums telling people not to use it.
Equip a SMG, then look at the recharge speed of one of your powers. Equip the SMG Ultramaterial mod on the same SMG and look at that same power's recharge speed again. It does NOT change, regardless of what the WEIGHT LIMIT says.
So, don't waste your mod slots using it, it does NOT work in multiplayer, it DOES how ever work the way it's supposed to in SINGLE PLAYER.

I've noticed this bug as well. Seeing as how I see no official response yet, I'm going to give it a bump in the hopes it gets one. Without ultralight materials most reasons to use an SMG in multiplayer are lost.
The cooldown % goes up like it works, but if you go to your powers screen the time is as if there are no UL materials. Same in game. Only the % readout changes.

Thats all I was looking for (and I'm sure everyone else), was that it was at least ON THE RADAR of the team... now that we know that you know, we can at least give you a small break on getting it fixed (though you're still gonna have people on your case regardless... but I'll chill out and give you a chance to fix it

i never used SMGs, so I never noticed a problem. But I decided to give them a try as a light backup weapon for my infiltrator, and I swear at first it was working because my recharge for cloak went from 6.06s to 6.11s or something like that. And then I don't know if it's because I promoted or because of the new patch that came out yesterday, but now cloak goes from 6.06s to something insane like 11s.

Cloak is excluded from this, I believe. Cloak's recharge is dependent on the amount of time that you stay hidden. Firing immediately after cloaking causes the cooldown to be 3 seconds each time, while staying cloaked until the effect wears off will cause the cooldown time to be at its maximum.

It looks like the Ultra Light Materials work on the new Geth Plasma SMG. The change shows up in the Recharge Speed in the Powers menu, as well as the Weapons menu. I haven't confirmed that it works in a match, but it seems like it wasn't even showing up for people in the Powers previously (I finally just got Ultra Light Materials, so I never noticed this problem), so I'm assuming the bug hasn't just become stealthier with the new weapon.

hm.. i might be blind, but it seems to work just fine for me.. im using nothing but the Hurricane on my Asari Adept, and with UL materials on, her Throw speed is 1.3 seconds. this is rank 6 Throw with no extra recharge upgrades, Hurricane II w/UL III, and 30 weight capacity bonus.

You will only notice it not working while in Game and when looking at the individual powers recharge times.

Does ultralight work now? I also had this issue where on the meter my cooldown was slower compared to another weapon, but when I checked my powers to look at the times they were actually SHORTER on the HEAVIER weapon! I think it was the Geth shotgun.
