I would have to say yes, now eventhough I originally said no.
Now let me explain why
1st playthru:
My fleet got torn to shreads approaching earth, ashley and my favorite squad members got cut down by the reaper beam. I sacraficed myself with the destroy ending and the mass relays were blown up. Finally my love interests fate wasn't shown so be aware if you romance miranda, you'll see liara step out of the downed ship.
2nd playthru: Much more rewarding ending
My fleet survied the approach to earth without any losses and they killed one or two reapers on the way in before even reaching earth. The final conversation with each squad member was different and
felt different than my last playthru. The emotion was higher and the music just fit knowing that I had done so much and achieved so much in uniting the galaxy.
When I hit the conduit I saw ashley was nowhere around and she had survived the reaper beam, which made me happy since there was 5 years of gameplay invested in that character. The difference in the final convo's made alot more sense with the perfect ending and liara gave me a special ending which I like to think of a prayer being said to sheppard for a final goodbye. Finally as my perfect ending was playing I saw a flashback of ashley while destroying the station, which really gives you the sense that you are sacraficing yourself for all those that you care about to preserve the human race and end the reaper threat.
Now if you thought that was all well and good, what happened next was much better.
After being blown up sacraficing myself and the blast killing the reapers you see everyone cheering firing guns in the air which you don't see unless its a perfect ending. This makes a ton of difference to making you feel proud of your character's progression over the past five years and appreciating the whole story. To top it all off, because I did it right this time it was joker, ashley, and james that survived and sheppard survived. My character survived.
MUCH MORE SATISFYING, I CAN REPLAY ME3 ANYTIME I WANT NOW.
IF YOU DON'T GET A PERFECT ENDING AND SEE THE LITTLE THINGS THAT MATTER AND EXPERIENCE THE DIFFERENT DIALOGUE THE ENDING IS SO DEPRESSING. IF YOU GET THE RIGHT ENDING ITS A MASTERPIECE.
Getting back to the original question:
Would I buy a DLC for ME3 now?
After my first playthru. No way! Not a chance
After my second playthru and the little things that most people overlook. Yes, I would buy additional DLC content in a heartbeat. There is so many bonuses that matter when its you who puts in the work and completes the game yourself and get that perfect ending. Than just watching a video on youtube of someonelse recieving it!
Its hard to explain, but I was heartbroken with my first playthru's ending...
Seeing my second playthru's ending unfold truly gave me a sense of what all I had accomplished as sheppard over five years. It was very rewarding.
