Wow didnt see this thread when making my own. Well incase mine gets locked for it heres my build:
My character spec:
THIS BUILD IS BUILT TOWARDS BIOTIC EXPLOSIONS, 200% RECHARGE SPEED RECOMMENDED.
I hardly ever shoot my gun.
Biotic: Level 60 Heath: 825 Barrier: 850 (Started at level 30) Best character for any and all situations. Makes Insane seem like a glorified babies toy.
Warp: Maxed (4,5,6 - Detonate, Expose, Pierce)
Throw: Maxed (4,5,6 - Force, Detonate, Double Throw)
Sockwave: Rank 4 (4 - Force & Damage)
Singularity: Max (4,5,6 - Duration, Recharge Speed, Detonate)
I know having duration and detonate kind of interferes with each other but heres why I do it. I singularity a group with out shields and focus on shielded enemies. If I dont get take them out before singularity runs out Boom, they get destroyed or get a chunk of health gone.
Pull: Max (4,5,6 - Radius, Expose, Double pull)
Cluster Grenade: Max (4,5,6 - Force & Damage, Max Grenades, Force & Damage)
Barely use these but they are great to throw down narrow spots
Biotic Mastery: Max (4,5,6 - Damage & Force, Damage & Capacity, Combo Mastery)
Fitness: Max (4,5,6 - Durability, Barrier Recharge, Fitness Expert)
Go for shields and recharge time since you rarely ever will melee.
Bonus Power: Stasis: Max (4,5,6 - Stasis Strength, Recharge Speed, Bubble)
I chose Stasis for a couple of reasons: First off the bubble upgrade is extremely powerful. Just lay it over shielded enemies and boom they are frozen and the great thing is any enemy that walks into it also gets froze. Next reason is the Stasis Strength upgrade, enemies receive 150% more damage while they are trapped in Stasis. That makes it very important allowing you to clear rooms and groups of enemies in the matter of seconds.
Some easy Biotic Explosions to use:
Stasis + Throw, pull, warp, shockwave. Easy way to clear out clustered groups.
Pull + Throw works really well as well. Best thing is with double pull and double throw you can do 2 Biotic explosions in 2 different areas. Very usefull.
Warp + Throw is my most used Explosion. Use on shielded and Armored enemies to kill very fast. Use just 2 times on Brutes to kill and 3-4 on atlas's to destroy. Also great against Banshees since it stuns as well.
Tips and suggestions:
1. Anything without shields can be taken out quickly. Throw and Pull works wonders.
2. Husks are annoying so just keep spamming throw on them. Usually just takes one to kill since it knocks them out of the map half the time.
3. Take Liara. Her one power upgraded increases Parties Biotic power. Very Useful. ALos gives you access to double Singularities, Double Stasis, Double Warps. Also you can have her Ammo power help you as well if you prefer. I never shoot so I dont use it.
4. Get Inferno Armor as fast as possible. It increases your Biotics Power and Recharge Speed greatly.
5. Any upgrades got at Glyphs Terminal should be put towards Power for Biotics when given the chance. You wont regret it.
6. Biotic Combo/Explosion anything you can especially with this build. You will keep checking the difficulty thinking its on Casual.
Power Point Placement when starting:
1: Try to get your Biotic Mastery, Warp, Throw up first. Fitness, Pull, Stasis, and Singularity second.
2: Try to get Liara's Stasis and Singularity up first. You can also increase her power thats helps your Biotic up as well.
Hope this helps anyone who wants to try out a Biotic.

You're right, the two are very different, but if anything by and large any human character in Co-op is far less effective than its SP counterpart, so I still feel my comparison has some validity.. In single player you can get much bigger warp explosions as the passive and even the power evolutions are far more effective, not to mention the ability to equip armor that can further enhance powers.
I've yet to play the Adept for myself in SP, but looking at the numbers, and comparing them with my co-op experiences, I'm willing to bet the adept could be rightly returning to its place as a bulldozer in Insanity. It won't be the lifty throw class it once was, but I think gigantic ~1000N biotic explosions should serve as a nice stand-in
Still not completely true. Adepts power from MP to SP goes in plus, soldiers power goes in multiply.
I played maxed Adept and maxed Soldier in SP, soldier is stronger by far.

If you want a very easy insanity playthrough, then go Sentinel. I easily beat the game in insanity with this class (admittedly, I started out on level 35 due to my save being imported from ME2).
However the game suffers from the same issue as Witcher 2: it's difficulty is very inconsistent. For example the hardest mission in the game was the Grissom Academy mission. Not even the final battle was as hard as that one. But, yeah Sentinel+Revenant+Carnifex. Easy as pie.
Whatever you do, though, do not pick Vanguard if you play in insanity. It is not insane. It's simply impossible.
I am happy that someone else had trouble with that mission as well. I died more times in that place than everywhere else put together. Did you go with the tank sentinel or the caster sentinel?

Throw: Radius, Detonate, Double Throw.
Warp: Detonate, Lasting Damage, Pierce.
Tech Armor: Durability, Power Damage, Power Recharge.
Offensive Mastery: Force & Damage, Weight Capacity, Force & Damage.
The three above should be top 1 priority to max out.
After that's done you can start put points in:
1 Lift Grenade: Radius, Max Grenade, Damage & Radius.
2. Fitness: Durability, Shield Recharge, Durability.
3. Cryo blast or bonus power of choice (not that you need anything else by this point).
First team member should be Garrus to deal with shield/stuns with the following build:
1. Overload: Chain Overload, Neural Shock, Chain Overload.
2. Turian Rebel: Durability, Power Damage, Squad Bonus.
3. Armor-Piercing Ammo: Squad Bonus, Headshots, Pierce.
4. Doesn't matter much were you put the rest.
Your second team member should be Liara for biotic combo/backup with the following build:
1. Singularity: Radius, Recharge Speed, Detonate.
2. Pure Biotic: Recharge Speed, Duration & Force, Squad Bonus.
3. Stasis: Stasis Strenght, Bonus Power, Bubble
Armored enemies:
Warp+Throw combo should take care of any armored enemy realy fast (Brute's goes down in 2-3 combos or less depending on how much Garrus/Liara hit with their weapond's)
Barrierd enemies:
Garrus overload +Warp+Throw combo should take care of any Barried enemy realy fast
(Banshee goes down in 3-4 combos or less depending on how much
Garrus/Liara hit with their weapond's,)
Shielded enemies:
Garrus Overload + Warp + Throw combo will take care of most Shielded enemies on first bomb
Unarmored/shielded enemies:
Liara's Singularity + Your Throw to detonate. 98% of all Unarmored/shielded enemies will die from that biotic explosion.
Weapond of choice: I took the mattock myself (still have 200% recharge speed with it equiped, but I rarely use it at all)
Armor: For higher survival use the "Blood Dragon Armor", For faster cooldown, take the "Inferno Armor"

Liara and Javik don't dodge the grenades and they don't follow orders at all. You'd also think one would revive the other when they're standing right next to them but no.
Seems like it's intentionally riddled with glitches too. They got locked behind that door more times than I can count,I had a grenade dropped on me through the upper floor and on Palevan I had my gun change to one that didn't do any damage. I'm also not sure which part of this so called super team is supposed to be dealing with armor.
Nuts to this new squad! The only things they do better are suck and die.
Guess I'll respec from the double armor deal.

What class would make this easy? By easy I mean, removes almost all the challenge. For ME2, Sentinel was the most overpowered class and made insanity a breeze. So is it sentinel again or vanguard?
The answer for main campaign is any imported character.
I played Adept with Energy Drain and Raptor Sniper/Assault Rifle hybrid with import.
Now I could use biotics more fluidly setting up combos quickly. Add an engineer like Tali or EDI and an Adept like Liara and Javik and my team were almost unstoppable.
You don't have to play as an adept to be overpowered. You can play as any of the 6 classes on import. You'll be so powerful you won't have to worry about squadmates and bonus powers.
But if you still find that you don't still have the edge with your chosen class, make sure you have the following:
- Javik's biotic pull or Garrus' Armour Piercing Ammo to deal with riot shields.
- Liara's Warp and Warp Ammo, Kaidan's Reave, James' Incendiary Ammo, Garrus' Armour Piercing Ammo or EDI's incinerate to deal with armour.
- Liara's warp, Liara's Warp Ammo, Garrus', Kaidan's and EDI's Overload, Kaidan's Reave, and Tali's Energy Drain to deal with barriers.
- Garrus', Kaidan's and EDI's Overload and Tali's Energy Drain to deal with shields.
Slow hard hitting weapons are good for armour. All weapons are good against health.
Trust me, even ignoring much of this advice you'll still be overpowered. Follow this advice and you'll be an overpowered Reaper Stopping Machine!

I'd add to this that the sheredder or piercing weapon mods will also do the trick for ignoring riot shields. If you're not to keen on using AP ammo, you should at lest bring along one weapon with a penetration mod.

Here we go Charge! Dead
Nova! Dead!
Okay that makes two powers a bit less useful.
But Vanguards still have
Shockwave
Pull
Cryo Ammo
Incendiary Ammo
Not to mention the bonus power.
In addition there will be those rare moments when charge is useful. But charge power depends so much on a decent shotgun. That's what I learnt from ME 2. But I haven't played Vanguard in ME 3 yet.
So what makes this class impossible?

Not sure what I should have as a bonus power since I've forgone defense matrix or what weapons. Using warp ammo with the beam for now. I want to take the scorpion but that hurts the recharge too much and I'm not sure how useful it'd be. It was useful in my other playthrough since it'd like them on fire then explode them but I don't have the ammo anymore.

When charging, do as many Novas as you can (two minimum, which should be enough for Charge to cooldown again). When you are doing your Nova animation and Charging, you are invulnerable for a second, but that brief duration of immunity stacks with each Nova you do. If you can equip a shotgun while retaining speedy cooldowns, you should chain in heavy melee and shotgun blasts also in between charge and novas.

I had the Combat Mastery set so I could do extra damage by weapon and by ammo types. My ammo powers were set to give them to the squad. For myself I had the damage reduction+shield strength Adrenaline Rush. To further this defense capability I picked up Defense Matrix. I got the 100% Shield Restore, and Damage reduction. I turned on Defense Matrix before the start of any mission just like my ammo powers. With the Adrenaline Rush and Defense Matrix I had a shield that could take a Brute's hit no problem.
For weapons I had a M-99 Sabre X, a M-77 Paladin X, and an M-11 Wraith X. I liked the no scope accuracy of the Sabre. It made it really easy for me to hit up close targets. Plus the Sabre weighed less then the Black Widow. The Wraith and Paladin modded with Shredder/Piercing mods made taking Brutes down easy with Incinderiary Ammo on. I had I think +50 or 60% power which helped because of Defense Matrix reducing power recharge times.
For Squad Members I had Garus and Ashley. Garus had Overload and Ashley had Marksman. I gave them both Revenant X's so they could keep the enemies heads down while I set up. They made short work of the enemy too thanks to my ammo powers.
That is the basics of how I did that. I think this build will give other's ideas for Soldiers.

You're right, Mattock + AR was hard work!
Not everyone bought the Firepower pack to unlock the Mattock. But I'll admit, Soldier was still relatively easy in ME2 compared to other classes (except Sentinel, what a breeze).
