Because anything not vintage philosophy from the nineteenth century or prior, doesn't count as 'real' philosophy, right?

The rudeness on these forums shouldn't continually shock me, but here it happens again.

Of course not. There is legitimate philosophy being done today, and earlier this century as well. Most of it is philosophy I can hardly understand - I'm a historian, not a [edit: huh, apparently that's censored for no obvious reason] - and much of what I do understand, I tend to disagree with (especially analytic philosophy, which I feel has little to offer history, especially after the linguistic turn), but I can recognize that it is philosophy.

But philosophy generally requires some intellectual rigor, and objectivism doesn't really qualify. It's not philosophy, or even a coherent system of ethics, but if anything, it is an ideology. One might as well say that Red Faction was a philosophical video game because it featured a somewhat caricatured revolution.

It's not rudeness, it's proper categorization. I don't bear any ill will towards objectivists.

Serial Experiments Lain. Well it's more of a visual novel than a game but it's on the PS1 and it's about as much of a game as Heavy Rain and people class that as a game so it gets in lol.

The series itself was brilliant Philosophically but the game took it to a whole new level as you learn to understand Lain and her slow breakdown into multiple personalities. It's Japanese and has no subtitles so if you don't speak Japanese you'd need a rom hack with subtitles and a playstation emulator to play it.

The game also has one of the most shocking ends to a video game i ever saw.

If you are interested in what i mean you can see it here:

You may want to skip to the 6 minute and 15 second mark if you don't want to watch the whole thing. Around that point is where my jaw really hit the floor
