You know she probably doesn't have much more knowledge of the dev teams plans or lack of them regarding the ending than the rest of us; the difference is as a Bioware rep she is still forbidden from 'official' dialogue.

Someone with a public twitter account please tweet her that 90% is not an arbitrary number, it's based on polling a sample size of around 50,000 people.

I don't for a moment think there are any other endings, this was a hallucination, etc. Bioware/EA is letting these speculations go on for two reasons. First, they are letting people vent. Secondly, they are weighing options.

Years ago, I worked for a PR damage control team and everything right now is going by the book. First, re-affirm and ignore (also known as doubling down), then try and define the detractors in the mainstream with things like "this is all a big mistunderstand", etc. while remaining civil in the hopes the detractors go rabid. Meanwhile go dark and use countermeasures through third part sources to prop up your position and brand the outcry as driven by hacks, haters or a minority trying to wear out the detractors on these outlets or "shock troops" while protecting the corporate core. Next, offer something distracting (notice SWTOR is free this upcoming weekend) known as the "faux olive branch"/ask the angry people to explain their concerns (without agreeing to commit to a compromise), buy more add time (definitely going on right now), and hope it dies down. If the pressure is still on, determine the economic viability of 1) ignoring the outcry and banking on the fickle nature of consumers to get over it or 2) determining if we can make money off of fixing it.

If it is any consolation, the decision whether or not there is a fix DLC, etc, won't be made by the writers so illusions to things they wanted to convey don't matter much atm (to wit: the leads comments yesterday). I suspect he's been called in and politely told by the PR guys to not do that again. This is now a corporate problem, not an artistic struggle with fans. Somewhere in the EA bunker, attorneys, PR guys, writers and brass are sharing numbers b/c in the end this will come down to hard currency.

As one who despises the endings, I'm hoping the suits tell the visionaries that the customers are loud enough and numerous enough to swollow their pride and get them out of this storm. For those that love them, I readily accept your position and respectfully disagree.

Why waste my time ?

Talking to her makes me feel like I'm talking to a wall that continually asks you "are you sure"?

What is she still turning every question around and stalling for time? Or is she still going with how the shepard story should be left open for interpertation, at least she got to ask a dev if she was right? Fun stuff... pass

I'm on the side of those enraged by the ending, but this is not a scientific poll.  It's what's called a "self-selecting sample."  It's a sample of the sort of person who goes onto a gaming website and votes on the ending.  For a scientific sample, they would have to (for example) randomly call at least 1,000 people who bought ME3 and ask them about the ending.  (1000 is a generally accepted sample size in the scientific community, provided that you truly are choosing participants randomly.)

Yep were all just too stupid to figure out! "The answers are there if you look for them."

/Sten no.

And no of course she didn't use that word but either we are that stupid or it's way more obtuse than they think and she it the one that can't see.

Not really, it's pretty obvious she's an indoc theory person, just because she's being coy about it doesn't mean it's not true.  She's never really contradicted it in any way, and has been constantly hinting at it for the last week or so.

Now, obviously, what she says isn't official in any way, shape, or form, but I do find it a bit heartening that she has that kind of interpretation.

Plus she's bringing up the Normandy's QECs, which is something I've tried a good dozen times to bring up to "OMG they're doomed forever!" people around here without much success.

Wait, didn't you hear, though?? It's all about the integrity of the artistic process!

Heh.  I think this is the most believable theory I've read around here.

She's clearly trying to listen the rage away. Like a good therapist. This is the current buy time strategy. You shouldn't take anything any of the PR accounts too seriously. I doubt its even Bioware's at this point.

Its on a desk at HQ. Some finance guy is running the numbers and trying to see who's line of the P n L statement this needs to come out of and which of the options is going to cost the least.

Granted. However, it's still silly of her to basically say that people are pulling that number out of their asses when it's actually being based on something (90% is actuall lower than it's been polling).

Also: I don't know why people are saying her twitter is giving them hope. All I'm seeing is her trying to defend the endings as-is.

Seems like she's just doing her job, trying to redirect rage.

Unfortunately, judging by her answers I suspect the dialogue we get with bioware will be something akin to this. But who knows.
