I agree OP. I takes a lot of talent to be able to design a game that can be story driven and player driven at the same time. But I applaud Bioware for actually sticking to the story design and not catering into the "What the Fans" want mentality that so many development studios do with games. It takes balls to take all the options players have made over 7 years and three games and toss them out the window to finish the story the way Bioware wanted to. I enjoy the fact that characters that I like from ME2 have story archs that are similar to the presented endings of ME3.
It's really well done.
I agree wholeheartedly!
Too many RPGs have cinderella type endings, but ME3 ranks up there with Planescape: Torment for me. I also am among the school of thought that there is more to the ending than taking it at face value - it's a bit more cerebral and may involve dreaming/indoctrination.
A very unique experience for me - and one that left me thinking of the possibilities at the end as opposed to being content, then forgetting about it a week later.

Besides the whole indoc theory has SERIOUS PLOT HOLES in it.... and I mean serious plot holes. Unless you some how became in doced in the last 30 minutes of the game..... this idea would be a pathetic attempt at trying to make the game's endings right. And I swear to GOD! If Shepard wakes up at ANY part of the story and all of it was a dream EVEN the last 10 minutes....... I will crack my CD in half and slit my wrist due to my favorite game developer allow such trash.
The game was GOOOOD.
The ending.... was just horrific and pathetic.
Its not even about HOW it happened or the CHOICES.
Its about how no matter which one you choose screws the entire galaxy over.
I liked the part before the ending where they dicuss what the reapers are and their purpose what I hate is the choices and how no matter what you do screws over everyone.... including yourself.

ME3 is nearly the perfect amalgamation of the best parts of ME1 and ME2. It is the most refined game in the series albeit one with its own problems. And by problems, I mean mechanical ones, not subjective ones (LIKE THE ENDING). Nevertheless, it is still an engrossing experience. Indeed, 90% of the people who hated the ending will go on to say that they loved the game (up until that point). Therefore we have the implication that the overwhelming majority of the game was fantastic.
But an ending somehow negates all that and instantly makes Bioware the worst developer in the world. How about we grow up a little.

Buuuuuut, the endings are an EPIC FAIL! promised multiple endings based on decisions throughout all the games, which is just totally not he case. Pick a color, that's what we got. Tons of plot holes that just can't be explained. Headcannon is nice and all, but too much is not a good thing. After half a decade dedicated to the series I think most people want some closure. Knowing that my decisions from all three games have absolutely nothing to do with the ending ruins replay value of entire series
Furthermore, if bioware comes out and says "here, we have a nice DLC coming that fills in all the plot holes and it the "real" ending, I will be left with such a bad taste in my mouth if I have to pay for it, which I'm sure we will. The precedence of releasing games with lame endings and making people pay for the "real" ending would be horrible for gamers. Such as the money making sceme of online passes that all see gem companies are making you have to play online, we'll see a trend of more studios release bad/incomplete endings and charging more money for the "real" ending. Mass Effect definitely needs closure at this point, but not at the expense of setting the precedent of screwing gamers out of even more money by charging for "real" endings.

You should read the message at the top of the board before you call people idiots.
Unfortunately, trolls cannot read...hence the "idiot" insults... Trolls think their opinion is the only one that matters in the world...shame...

No, because everytime someone posts anything remotely voicing their opinion about how well Bioware did on the game an idiot like you comes in here berating either Bioware or the OP. But if say I go and critique the people bashing the ending I am berated and considered a minority. Besides aren't there 300 other ending threads for you to camp out in?
Welcome to the outvoiced majority, friend. I agree with what you said, they did an amazing job.

You aren't alone.
While I, personally, don't love the ending, if it never gets updated I'll be able to live with it. I can head-cannon something that suits me
I also agree that neither side should degrade themselves by pointlesly insulting the other side for a difference in opinion. Being civil gets more done anyway.
