they would have retreated to regroup not flee

it was pretty obvious to everyone there that this was there only shot at taking down the reapers, there was no retreat, it was fight or die.

also there is no way in heck joker and the crew would have just bailed on shep.

This.  Hackett, Anderson...they BOTH said it multiple times.  There was no option for retreat.  It was do or die, because everyone knew there was no where to hide.

Not to mention the whole squad--Garrus, Kaiden, etc. all say in their last conversations that they will stay and fight til they win or die trying. I have a hard time believing they would just walk away from the groups they were in charge of in order to board the Normandy in the middle of battle.

from twitter. hold any water?

A nice lady only doing her job after it's been hopelessly sabotaged by inept bungling at the highest levels of writing and production.  She's obviously trying to give people a little solace and peace of mind.  She's not really succeeding at covering up the massive plot hole(s), but the effort of trying when she doesn't really have to do so is appreciated.

Any plot point this important should be made clearly, not as background chatter while the player is busy focussing on something else.

this is pretty much bad news for everyone wanting a ending DLC :P

Not exactly. There have been ending DLC in other AAA titles that are there purely to clarify the ending or provide a new one. See Fallout III and FF 13-2. They both had ending DLC. One seemed planned, FF 13-2, and Fallout's was in response to fan's (i beleive).

Despite her remarks, which I believe are true, if an ending has to be explained by the creator, then this reaffirms that it is not clear enough but is in fact confusing. The ending jumps around to much and generally feels rushed.

The more bioware talks about how brilliant and edgy these endings are and how the gaping plot holes dont exist the more im loosing faith in game devs as a whole. If this is truely how they intend to end sheps story they have lost my custom

He would have to have been running BEFORE Shepard even started the push. The Charon Relay is near Pluto -_-

But what of the "teleporting crew" ?

The Alliance found an artifact at the end of Mass Effect 2 on Luna, apparently it was a crash site for a Starfleet vessel, they managed to salvage the Federation transporter technology

Thats stupid. Shepard was hearing Major Coats of HAMMER squad. They wanted Hammer to ''pull back'' not give up and retreat.

I love Jessica, but dam that's just poor. This is bioware trying to save its ass and use PR to spin this situation or trick us. Hold the line people. Untill this is fixed I'm done with Bioware.

That's bull****, OP. The Sword fleets were still fighting the Reapers when Shepard was making his final decision - you can see it out in the back. And Normandy was at the tip of the Sword.
Besides that, pulling back from the battle is not the same as pulling back from the whole goddamn planet. And there was no mention of it whatsoever.

If you listen to the orders after Harbinger's laser, it's a retreat of the ground forces for a regrouping. It's not a retreat of the fleet.

Explanation fail.

Also why was there ships still fighting in space when Joker was escaping? Just look up before you make your Color choice. Ships are still fighting.
So yeah FAIL ,I'm afraid.

So pulling back = leave the Sol system? He was obviously outside the sol system when the ship was hit, since there's no way he outran the crucible beam, so that means he had already completed a mass relay jump before the crucible fired.

Well, at least he was nice enough to pick up Tali and Garrus before leaving.

So where are all the other ships? Why did the Normandy retreat somewhere else than the rest of the fleet? How did all your squadmates end up back on the Normandy when they were part of the Hammer ground troops? Especially the ones you took to the final assault. You know, the ones that were with you when Harbinger was all "firin' my lazorz lol" and everyone was dying. This doesn't explain anything.

Even the BioWare reps are grasping for straws to explain the messy ending. :P
