I don't know what about this thread seems familiar, but it does.

Not really news. I would have argued that this was an over-reaction to mistreat the overall great game. But then, I haven't gathered enough courage to play it again since seeing the ending.

is it any wonder with how Bioware has handled the ending? I know its inflammatory but the endings themselves really do detract from the entire exprience by more or less rendering the entire series up to the last 15 minutes null and void when the game itself has more core examples of why the endings should be defied rather than supported. certainly stronger ones. Something has gone wrong, and its not just one or two people.

Casey Hudson, please actually show that you're really looking out the window on this. people are not happy and contrary to these brush aside comments of 'people who have played the game are finally getting it' no, they're not, their discussing your ending not because of how thought provoking it is, but because of how monumentally experience breaking it is. somethings wrong with a narrative when it breaks immersion so badly. own up. it doesn't work.

The scores will affect those who have never played Mass Effect and were thinking about trying it. Some people like to wait before spending $60 on a game. With a 2 out of 5, those people are likely to take their money else where. Bioware is likely losing money because of that. Even though this game is an awesome game (ignoring the ending), those ratings will discourage people from buying the game.

I hate metacritic and amazon trolls. It really is a good game and is much better than the vast majority of "blockbuster" games. I personally don't hate the ending (don't love it either), but even with a bad ending I'd take Mass effect over halo/cod/uncharted/gears/battlefield ANY DAY.

I gave it a 10 before I finished. Haven't bothered changing it because I think it still deserves a good score.

Seriously, if you hate the ending note it in your review. The gameplay is improved over ME2, the voice acting is top notch, most of the writing is great, etc. etc. This is in no way directed towards the BSN users who have legit complaints, this is directed towards the metacritic/amazon trolls. I think most of us can agree that the game is great (besides the ending). If you only hate the ending but like the game, it probably deserves at least a 6/10.

Just like how the Call of Duty games tanked when users started trashing them.

Good thing I base all my decisions on the internet masses.

I think BSN and the Child's Play charity is a great example of how to properly and positively voice satisfaction and get the attention of others. Trolling metacritic is just being a jerk/

I definetely understand that. But, the great thing about Amazon or Newegg is the ratings. You can see what others thought of the product before getting it. If something gets low ratings, then people are likely to go "Darn, it looked good."

Now are people on Amazon overreacting with the low scores? Probably. But, that is how much of a bad taste the ending left. Should they be more clear-headed with their reviews? Again, probably. But, in the end, the low score helps the cause to get better endings.

Any sort of scoring system is BS.

All review sites should stop using scores, they show no indication of how good a game is because everyone wants different things in a game.

The only thing you can trust is well though out reviews from intelligent critics who you know like the things you like.

Good. BioWare wants to fight dirty by sicking their lap dogs on us (IGN) and re-tweeting snide remarks about the fan base? Fine, we can fight dirty too.

I'd prefer people give honest reviews, rather than review bombing... At it's worst ME3 is a 3.5/5

I haven't given it any poor reviews myself, but I find it hard to feel bad that it's getting such a poor user rating. If they fix the ending, then I will feel bad.

the best way to put it is this.

You have a nice juicy apple.

you then get a needle and inject the apple with a little poison (few drops).

whole apple is now ruined by a few drops of poison.

The poisoning ending basically affects everything in the mass effect trilogy. You can't emotionally just walk away from it and play the game normally again without that in the back of your head ... at least I can't.

I get why people are angry, as am I, but review bombing is being used as the number 1 attack against us. Next up is how we apparently all want "happy" endings.

Suspect this hurts us in the long run

Such a shame that a great game has to suffer because the endings are lazy, terrible and don't fit the narrative... but such is life.

Sorry... Bioware should have thought about that before letting endings make it out of the cutting room.
