Out of everything that is going on, I would like to say that I am one of the people that disapproves of the ending(s), but the point of this thread is not to cause a fight about it, or list reasons why it should be changed.

Instead, I want to share some of the things that have been floating around.

  • BioWare has said that it will not comment on the matter of the ending(s) or the game until more people have been able to complete the game (i.e. Japan), probably in two weeks time.
  • There are many theories on the endings in which it is a hallucination, or that shepard is indoctrinated, and that the final scene is actually shepard fighting in indoctrination and then the final cut-scene is just what is being shown to him by the reapers.
  • It has been said that EA rushed the deadline of Mass Effect 3, making it hard for BioWare to finish the game's ending. It has also been said that due to the script being leaked, BioWare decided to pull the true ending to try and finish on their own (possibly without EA knowing).
  • No link to provide at this time

Looking at the evidence, it seems that BioWare has a 'true' ending that they are at least trying to finish for the players, and that the ending that has been put in place is actually just the second to last scene as Shepard is fighting the indoctrination.

After all of this has been said and done, I would also just like to point out that it has been said (but unconfirmed) that there is a difference in size between the data on the PC discs and console versions on disc by a few gigabytes. Now, why would the PC version have fewer gigabytes then the console versions? Maybe the consoles just need more data. Or, maybe there is an additional ending already on the discs waiting to be unlocked by BioWare, and ending that couldn't be put onto computer discs for fear of tech-savy players prying through the data and finding these hidden secrets before BioWare wanted it to be released?

None of this is for certain (besides BioWare denying comments at this time), but it seems unlikely that BioWare would go through all of the trouble of making three games with so many choices just so that you COULDN'T see what happens with them after the game 'ends'.

So I ask you fellow players, if you believe this is true, FIGHT THE INDOCTRINATION! Go back to your save, no matter what your alignment was, and get to the final moment (I suggest getting your galaxtic readiness as high as possible) and destroy the reapers! Why? Because that is not the truth! If you do not destroy the reapers, you have allowed yourself to be indoctrinated if there really is a 'True' Ending coming out. But if you chose to destroy the reapers, you successfully beat the reaper's effort to indoctrinate you!

Fight back. And prepare for the Truth. If you believe.

[Please don't turn this thread into another hate/like fighting match over the endings. This should be a discussion of the things that I have discussed above, and whether or not you think it is right to fight in indoctrination]

[Edit]

I would also like to point out that as of March 2nd, BioWare changed the rules and code of conduct on the site to a zero-tolerance towards abuse directed at staff, moderators, or other community members. I doubt that there was a lot of activity on the sites that would promote such a change, however, this change happened two weeks before Mass Effect 3's release.

With that in mind, does it almost seem as if BioWare was expecting a surge of anger from their member base? Expecting waves of frustration or ranting? Did they expect players to be voicing strong opinions to something? Something like an ending to their most popular game set to date? An ending that would result in a lot of people enraged at the staff and even moderators of the site?

This could be coincidence, but it is something to think about.
