Well, even this idea wouldn't really please me, but it might provide closure.
Whether Shepard lives or dies, it would be interesting to have a post-ending DLC where the squadmates can go look for her remains. If you survive, this becomes a rescue. If you died, then it's like collecting dog tags on the SR1 mission in ME2 and gives a chance for closure.
I would much prefer a sensible ending wherein we actually know what happened to everyone and Shepard's actions mattered. But, this would also provide an opportunity for someone other than Shepard to take the show over. I'd be interested to see, if the Indoctrination Theory ended up being true, if the squad could take over and lead everyone to eventual victory, depending how well Shepard had prepared for it.
Because if the best Destroy ending is true, then the fight is not over. And I don't even feel in ANY interpretation that we've really won back Earth.
If you stand still on the Citadel, the game ends because you took too long. Or maybe because you lie there and die. Or any number of reasons. But it seems strange that it becomes game over that quickly just because you didn't move. I mean, wouldn't you still win as long as you were alive to trigger the Crucible? Even if everyone you knew died, you could still take back Earth and technically win.
