He's a badass and all, but his statements really get on my nerves. He talks down to you, is a complete tool to your friends/Love intrest, and threatens to kill Legion.

Kind of makes me glad I watched videos of him on youtube rather than paying 20 bucks for the DLC.

Yeah... he's a real character that one.

Either except him for who he is or don't. He actually makes it quite clear in the game that he doesn't care what anyone else thinks of him.

Because he thinks he is better than everybody else, which is what bothers me about him. No humility.

In all fairness to him, he remembers us as a bunch of cavedwelling savages. He is a product of his time.

true. but there is a difference between someone who is 50 and someone who is 50,000. Especially since for him it was only a few minutes due to relativity in his stasis pod.

Who knows, it might just be chance that the most annoying Prothean that ever lived happened to have survived. Cranky bastard, that Javik.

Maybe because in his cycle all of the current races were primitives, you are zoo exhibitions for him.
Continue to talk to him, he will ease up eventually (Unless you go renegade)

This might not be a good analogy but imagine going into the far future and finding that cats and dogs have evolved to our current level of evolution. I know some people treat their pets more like family members than pets while some treat them simply as....pets. Imagine how it'll be like treating them now as fellow sentient beings and whatnot. Didn't Javik mentioned that the Salarians use to be little lizards? Not to say we should look down on them but rather it could be awkward.

Plus given the fact that he's the only survival amongst thousand of troops that he was suppose to lead and that Proteans as a whole were a race that assimilated and conquered the "lesser" race I could see why by nature he is how he is.

He is just depressed.. he has nothing to live for, his entire race was wiped out.. give him some time, his dialogue in the end on Earth will probably make you understand.

He admits several reasons for his bitterness, one being him executing his crew after they cornered him because they were indoctrinated. Long story short he was the CO of his own ship, but it was captured and he abandoned it and was the only crew member to escape. His crew became indoctrinated and chased him down. He then cornered them on a world and slit all of their throats, bled them to death while watching.

His reaction to Thessia is largely him admitting he has a softer side.

Remember what Legion said in ME2? Trying to compare the actions of one species to the standards of yours is borderline racism. Different strokes for different folks.

I love his lines though....he has some very interesting lines when you take him on missions, especially Thessia...

Much better as a DLC character vs anyone else that came before him..

Javik is a jerk, but he's the last of his people and his only reason to live is to get revenge on the Reapers, thats reason enough to cut him a little slack. Plus if you're nice to him he does eventually soften up a bit.
Though his comments about the Salarians make me laugh every time.

Javik: Salarians? The lizard people evolved?
Liara: They're amphibians.
Javik: They used to eat flies.

He's the Zaeed of ME3. Or more accurately, the Commander Shepard of ME3 had he been put in stasis for 50,000 years only to realize he failed his cycle miserably.

Then again, that's pretty much how what ended up happening.

He starts of harsh but he gets better. After the mission on Thessia, the conversation between him an Liara make him seem less less like a dick. You have to give him some slack he did watch his race get wipped out, believeing the Protheons  left all the information for the next cycle to finish the reapers an really they just ignored the evidence, so he is brought back, to watch the reaper's massacre organic life AGAIN. Not sure that would make you a good person for light conversation

Stating a fact doesn't justify what was done, any more than using TIM's research to benefit the war effort, condones what TIM has done. The facts are, what the facts are.

You will aquire perspective with age, if you're fortunate.

Characters don't have to be likeable to be good characters.

Javik softens up a lot if you go paragon on him. Basically, his problem is he's too brutally honest about the Reapers, as a product of his time, but if you prod him enough with paragon actions, he'll eventually start giving pep talks to everyone. Specifically I'm referring to his Citadel speech and his fight with Liara (though it's funny hearing someone talk Liara to tears).

Javik will always be "Prothy the Prothean" to me.

Anyway, I didn't really like the DLC as a whole, it's not that Javik himself doesn't make sense, it's just that he's not integrated into the game well enough. A living Prothean would be a much bigger deal then he is made out to be. I think it's such a big deal, all things considered, that it's really impossible to have gotten it right. Zaeed and Kasumi at least felt like they belonged in the game.

I guess I just get defensive about my crew. lol you know that there is at least some good writing in Bioware when they can get you pissed about your in-game girlfriend and your in-game synthetic ally.

Bioware's strength has always been character and how they interact with others. They can take the most cliched character type in the world and make it seem original.
