I almost feel bad about it...I was so into Alistair the first couple of playthroughs...and now I just don't feel it anymore. I have actually noticed that I have been hurting his feelings more and more as I pick meaner and meaner responses. Has anyone broken up with Alistair? What does he say? Does he try to talk you out of it?

Has any one experienced this with other characters? Anyone break up with Morrigan or Lelianna or Zevren? What do they say?

I broke up with Leliana my first playthrough when she forced me to choose between Morrigan and her. But then the game bugged and she fell in love with me again despite my having ended the romance, so I ended up with a relationship with both of them.

The second time I ended it with her to become engaged with Anora, and she takes it reasonably well. She tells you that you are still a dear friend, and in the epilogue there are dialogue options you can pick that tell her you want to continue the relationship despite Anora. I think she says something along the lines of respecting Anora too much to do that.

If you break up with Morrigan for Leliana she bitterly tells you that the two of you are much better suited to each other anyway, and to enjoy your domesticated bliss. Even though she pretends not to care as much as Leliana, she actually takes it much harder in terms of approval lost, or at least she did for me.

Yeah, apparently you have to keep it casual to keep getting it from her. Maybe I will play a male character just to see what her reaction is to breaking up with her...course, she might just get a stupid smirk knowing that she will have you again muwahahaha.

Did you do Leliana's quest after you broke up with her? I heard that if you break up with her, and then do her quest she takes you back.

Good freakin god...what is it about Alistair? And Morrigan for that matter? Why is everyone attracted to one or the other of the two people who will not hesitated to break your poor PCs heart. Jerks.

Attracted or not, being in good terms with them gives fair bonuses.

I broke up with Lel once just to see what she said - it was hilarious depending on the dialogue choices you pick. I recommend at least trying out all the options - she gets so mad I couldn't stop laughing.

Alistair hurt my mage too much and I am having difficulty keeping him with my rogue I really want to pick Zev however I already told Alistair I loved him and feel like breaking up with him would make my character a total douche. Still, he did leave my character on the eve of battle to face darkspawn, demon and death just because I spared Loghains life so he must not rally leove me too much. Still, Alistair is sooo adorable.

Lol I think my mage only likes Alistair (especially after I dressed him up in the templar armor) because secretly, she really like Cullen...the templar from the circle...who while trapped in that magical cage confessed that he had feelings for her. I've decided just not to focus too much energy into Alistair. So far the relationship has progressed as it should, but I am not talking to him anymore or any less then the other companions. Its just so sad, because you do feel a connection with him, probably because he is your first companion...but it just doesn't feel like he is all that genuwine to me.

It's actually fairly easy to break up with Morrigam without a total approval loss. Get her to fall in love with you then follow the dialog tree that agrees with her that love is a bad idea. You take a hit of like 10 points that a few baubles easily fix. It's all very in character for her--the fling was fun but love makes you weak and your character having the strength to see this softens the blow.

I broke up w/ Lel once and later had the option to talk to her about it. I haven't had that option w/ Alister or Morrigan.
