Requested information:
So I bothered a mod about this issue earlier and he told me they've been looking into the issue, but to help them out we should provide our Origin ID (not login name). Either toss up a new post with your ID or edit your current one, folks! On reflection it'll probably be easier to go through the thread if we just post something new, like:

Credits lost: 150k
Bioware points lost: 0
Origin ID: Pandaman102

There's a bug in how the MP store processes "refunds" after a failed pack purchase where it doesn't take if you exit the game, here's the process in how it can happen:

- Have enough credits to purchase a pack (61,250 credits for example).
- Attempt to buy a Veteran's pack for 20,000 credits.
- Receive a "failed transaction error".
- Credits drop to 41,250.
- Game pauses as it communicates to server, credits go back up to 61,250.
- Quit multiplayer, exit game.
- Restart game, enter multiplayer.
- Credits now at 41,250.

Tested this several times (PC version), lost 100k credits, but also discovered that if I play a round right after the "refund", THEN exit the game, my credit balance will be correct. Now given how shoddy the network is at times, it's possible that any failure to purchase a pack will also be followed by failure to create/join MP games - and the natural response would be to restart the game to see if that fixes anything; losing credits is fine, but it's possible this will also cause the loss of Bioware points.

Youtube video of the bug in action, courtesy of Taldren.

Possible workaround to ensure a successful purchasem courtesy of GuinnessPint.
Update 1: Alas, someone else has pointed out it doesn't work for them, so I guess it was just luck of the draw.
Update 2: I'm still not sure if it's just a massive coincidence, but I was able to spend my hoarded credits (two million, whoo) in two seperate clumps of purchases and only lost one Recruit Pack - but that was immediately after messing around with unlocked stuff for half an hour. I would suggest restarting the game completely before trying the above, just to ensure you have a "clean" connection to test with.

Another possible workaround, posted by someone else (I remember seeing the post as well, can't remember who either), but strongly suggested by Wynne.
Update 1: I see that someone else has reported this not working for them either.

As a related warning, if you lost Bioware points due to this be sure to let EA/Bioware handle this. Getting your credit card company to reverse charges is a bannable offense in any other digital store/online service and I think we can all agree EA would be the last company to be an exception to this.

Regarding partial successful purchases: Some people are reporting that they are receiving items despite the failed transaction message, just that it's not marked as new. Problem is most seem to be basing these conclusions on observing a few new item and assuming that applies to the whole purchase (i.e.: I saw I unlocked a new class, I probably got everything else as well). Personally I can attest this is not the case: out of seven Veterans Packs I only received one Incisor, no class unlocks, additional class customizations, weapon unlocks, weapon upgrades, or even medigel (hard to miss when you have zero medigel).

Still, if anyone feels brave (particularly those reporting successes) they can note down everything they had before a failed purchase and compare it with what they get afterward.

Possibly related, though didn't require exiting the game and is related to Bioware points:

I would say go ahead and reverse your credit card transaction if ea bans your account you can sue them for fraud since they actually stole your money in the first place. chances are it would not get to court but ea would most likely settle for reactivating the account and restoring your points. the only catch is you would have to pay a lawyer to write a harshley worded letter full of big law words to the corperate headquarters

What kind of resolution has people seen so far? How have you filed tickets to get help and have you received your items or credits back?

I'd like to know how you filed the requests and what kind of response you received.

Just finished up with a live chat agent, expressed my opinion and though I couldn't get any proper answer they did tell me that they are working on a solution which will make me very happy. Not sure what to make of it but heres what i've lost so far:

Lost: 480 bioware points && 600,000 credits
Tried to buy: 3 Spectre packs with points (leftover from ME2 dlc) and 6 spectre packs, 12 veteran packs
Origin ID: iambeanie

This doesn't include the lost packs from weekend events which apparently don't count for me =-(.

Went to purchase a super spectre pack. Here is my proof. This also happened with 2 other regular spectre packs but i didn't get screens of those :/ This seems to happen with every second purchase I attempt to make.
Also, I promoted 5 characters this past weekend but only got the victory pack.

I hope this thread is received as a compliment, that multiplayer is so good we keep playing even after the frustration of loosing almost 200k credits. I can not even imagine how the people who spent bioware points are feeling.
I hope Bioware find a fair way to compensate players who have had these issues.

This has happened to me quite a few times since I started playing multiplayer--I'd estimate at least 6-8 afflicted pack purchases. However, I just lost 99k on a failed Premium Spectre Pack purchase. Now that has got me pretty angry.  Not only is it a large amount of credits/time, it is toward a special, temporary pack that I can't magically make more time to farm towards.

Credits lost in past week: 139,000
Tried to buy: 1 Premium Spectre Pack & 2 Veteran Packs
Origin ID: Creakazoid

I am 99% sure after poking around my inventory that I received no new weapons and characters during each purchase. I would really appreciate reimbursement for my lost purchases if anyone is watching over this thread!

Almost lost a premium specter pack but was finally able to test out the disconnect and it worked for me... the steps I did were:

1. Don't leave the game or the store when your pack fails.

2. unplug the internet cable from back of computer. The message that said your pack failed will turn into you lost connection to the game(still in store).

3. Reconnect.

4. Click ok on the message on the screen and it will then bring you back to the main menu where it automatically reconnects you.

5. Click on Multiplayer and once connected it will show you the pack you purchased.

Thats exactly what I did and it worked for me. Hopefully for others ^

I just lost 240 Bioware Points to this glitch.
Oh, but that's not all! Now, it won't recognize my remaining BW points (around 1000+), so I can't even use them anymore!
You would've thought they'd have fixed this by now, especially the points lockout part.

this happening once is frustrating, but twice now doing this to me is infuriating, its making me a bit weary of purchasing anymore packs :(

This worked for me as well; around 5x now, I think. But lately I've had no problems with the packs; they've all opened correctly as normal.

People, if you're still having problems, follow this method. Don't hit the "ok" button, just wait until the "failed" message appears, unplug your cable, and after you're booted out to the main terminal, reconnect to the EA servers. Log back into multiplayer and it should work for you as well.

If nothing else, it's worth a try.
