My FemShep romanced Liara in all 3 of the ME games. Being a guy and playing FemShep who romances another male seemed kinda weird to me.SpiderFan1217 wrote...
1. My FemSheps never have LI's. Any male character Bioware creates for female PC's are usually lame.
Why do guys play as FemShep?

Seriously, try shouting "ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL" at random intervals.Oloos wrote...
Because she's the one who control's me in real life, i'm a weak weak man, doing whatever she wants...
Like when you're booting up the game. Or when you're asking her if she wants to go out, etc.

The fact that the OP can't form an argument beyond "stupid," while attempting to persuade us that only homogeneous relationships between digital avatars and players are correct is telling of his maturity.
People can relate to others through more than their gender.
We all appreciate and relate to the game in our own way, please stop trolling others with comments like "stupid" and attempts at pigeonholing the playerbase into such a limited way of thinking.
You asked questions. Please be polite and respectful as we have been.
Why I play femshep?
Because of voice acting and a strong female lead character.

Isn't that also roleplaying.

I would even go as far to say that Kimberly Brooks is a better va than Hale.

It's about the choices you make.
You therefore sort of become the protagonist, cause all the actions and choices made are the ones YOU pick.
Also you can change the face to look more like yourself or the ideal of what you want to look like.
Another factor is romance, as a male I want to role play a male in pursuit of a romance with a female.
Or in case of Bioware games gays can now play their own gender and still have correct respective romances. Good for them.
I can see playing femshep just to try and hear new dialogue or responses.
But there is nothing I could identify with a female protagonist, other than of course general HUMAN decisions and feelings.
I find it so odd and transparent when some come up with lame exuses like, I want to see a lesbian sex scene, how about you just type that into google and you can see LOTS of them.
Also the other about not wanting to see male shepards butt all the time, then WHY are you looking at it.
All this spells some sort of odd insecurity.
Just say like someone said, "cause the options is there".
Also about Hale's voice acting, that too me is also something that I see as the typical playing as femshep excuse.
Sure some might like here better but I bet that a lot just say it as an excuse, not a reason to why the play femshep.
Personally her voice acting is extremely over-hyped, there is nothing special about it, half the time it comes off as "try-hard". Also she sounds like a tom-boy too me and not all that female.
I think Meer does an excellent job, he can deliver the lines when needed too, IE not a "try-hard" in every single sentence.
He speaks normal and then delivers a funny renegade line or can be tender without being sappy as well.
Sure at times it can come off as silly when doing the monolouges "why we fight",but that is because it comes off as corny in writing and cliche'.

For me the bottom line is that I pay for it and therefore why should I not use it unless I fundamentally disagree with some design decisions etc.

Besides that the Voice acting of Jennifer Hale is P E R F E C T !
Ill never forget she was dooing the speech on the normandy to the entire Crew! Its a highlight in voice acting!
I have her speech saved on Mp3 file and now and then if i feel down i listen to it.
I go further on all my quests in ME1 i always took Tali and Ash with me ( I am Nicole) In Me2 i mostly took Tali and Kasumi with me on the quests. Woman Power is GREAT to watch ! <3

I've looked over most walkthroughs on youtube, and pretty much all of them play as femshep.
My friends play as femshep too.....and its not even on their second playthrough.
Like....why? I don't get it....do they do that JUST for seeing some lesbian action? Jeez....
EDIT:
Some of you asked whats my take on this, and why do I think its wrong? Well.....
Its not wrong. Its just stupid. If you are a guy, you can never truly relate to a female character.
And if your gay, why wont you play as a gay maleshep?
It just doesnt make sense for guys to play as femshep, unless you're sexually confused.
Why oh why do you ever see any movies where females are the protagonist?
I mean HOW ON EARTH ARE YOU EVER GONNA RELATE TO HER?
I mean, it's not like as if women are people now is it? <_<
