Seconded. Also, her voice-acting is simply excellent!

why do girls play with maleShep? We likes to mix it up.

Just think of it this way; if you're a girl or a guy in real life, it might be even more fun to play as the opposite sex, to be in the shoes of someone else for once. And to be honest, Mass Effect is one of the first games I encountered that had a kick-butt female protagonist

This list is fail.  (short of Alien). How about

Aeon Flux

The movie or the anime?

back to topic, I play a female Shep because it's voice acted. If it wasn't I'd probably play MalShep. I personaly think Hale is the better VA of the two, but both do do a good job in their own roles. It was the same for DA2, FemHawke in that, but in DA:O, neverwinter, skyrim, and many other rpgs that don't have VA's for the main character I play as an avatar for myself (normaly in Orc form). If I'm going to be sitting listening to someone speak diologe for a good long time I at lest want it to be a girl's voice.  I'm just thankful there was the choice

Alien 1 2 3 and 4

Sigourney Weaver... ( Ripley!)

I always will love her! ( and her Voice!)

She could have done the Shepard female Voice also perfectly.

Nobody told me there is a cyber aboard!  ( The Knife scene in Aliens (2))

I actually like the male voice acting more then the female voice acting, which is why I have yet to finish a ME1 as Femshep. The voice for Femshep is a little bit too deep for me.

Other then that when I did play Femshep it was mostly to kick ass as a hot chick, sorta like the only reason I played Bloodrayne.

I agree 1000000%, do yourself is difficult in game, in most of games you cant did in creator person which be looking as I, or you ect. And doing player which is our imagination how we want look like is ridicolous

Besides, if i have to stare on some Back or ASS, for more than 40 Hours, I DEFINITELY PREFER WOMAN ASS.

Ive pretty much only played male shep for 5 years. Hes just what I always envisioned the character as and its all I really knew.

Just started trying out fem shep before ME3 came out and I fell in love. I dont know how, but it feels like such a different experience.

I still used my "primary" male shep for my first (and sadly probably only) playthrough of ME3, but if I ever come back, I cant wait to see fem shep in action.

If anyone hasn't tried both, I highly recommend it.

I don't want to look on a guys ass? And femshep has a lot more attitude thanks to a better voice actor than the va for the male.

Femshep VA is brilliant, and much better than the maleshep VA.

Also, having Kaiden + manshep + jersey shore (3 male human soldiers) as part of your squad, just makes it boring. Femshep adds some variety, and space ass.

I mostly always play as a women and I find that if your going to be looking at some ones behined, it's better to be a womens.

..My girlfriend thinks that most of the game characters that I make look like hookers. Probably just as well she never saw my Saints row 3 character (It sort of resembles a blonde female work colleague I used to work with, only with shorter skirts..)

*Ahem*

What about roleplay ? Ring any bells ?

I might add that you are not a space soldier so why do you play as such ?

I never said that no one should. I just get more into it when I do it that way.

My post was directed to op actually. And also to anyone saying playing a fem shep while being a male is stupid or wrong.

To me it is as much silly as saying : why do you play a thief or an assassin in skyrim while you're not either in real life ?

But anyway each time a game gives a possibility to play both sex this question appears.

The reason I play as femshep is:

A) Jennifer Hale's voice
B) Right before I played ME1 I thought a modern sci-fi needed a strong female lead. We had Ripley in the 70s/80s/90s, now its Femsheps turn!
C) Better armour
D) Better character

Acting wise, Jennifer (actress for Female Shepard) is just amazing. She delivers her lines with such intensity and impact. I play the female shepard, for that alone. Plus her voice can suit almost any face. While the male version, really just suits the default male version. Plus the male can sometimes be too stoic to me. Still don't get me wrong. The male version still gives a good performance too.

Because Mark Meer is a terrible voice actor and Jennifer Hale, despite the awful material she is given these days, is not.

Also I've had a crush on her since Quest for Glory 4.

I use default male Shep.

But femshep has the better face editing options I found. So much easier to make her look the way I want to. Plus, I thought it would be interesting to see it from a different perspective. The amount of sexism and slander she puts up with and cracks right back at the undesirable elements is awesome.

No.

Anyone that seriously think Mark Meer holds up compared to the rest of the cast --ANY member of the cast, don't know how acting works. Hell, there's a good chance you don't even know how speaking normally works.

For me? Jennifer Hale. That, and since you can't romance Kaidan or Garrus as a dude without severe headaches and dialogue bugs (though Kaidan is easier than Garrus since ME1 still contains all relevant voiceovers), it's a way of getting your next playthrough to be more diverse and different from the first one.
