Ah... hmm - I'm not sure why your empirical testing would have come up with some of that - but here's how it's "supposed" to be.
Banshee
- No weak points (aim for the belly, as it's fattest - most likely to hit it)
Brute
- Takes reduced damage in the right arm
- Takes greatly reduced damage in the claw
- Armour Plates absorb damage until breaking (best to aim for exposed flesh, probably base of the neck?)
- No other weak points
Geth Prime
- Currently has a head volume (but it's a bug)
Atlas
- Some types of weapons will do increased damage to the cockpit (this is a bug)
- Destroy any of the following to do a small damage spike (shoulder flanges, groin plate, knee plates)
=============================================================================
Have they said anything other than this about weak points?

They really should update on stuff like this. They got a lot of technical issues to work with and apparently, enemy weak points is one of them.

They have basically said weakpoints do exist, but it is a design flaw and they have no intention of fixing it- however thy have given the big units a HP/shield boost, I think they will give them another one soon given that the Javelin + GI kills atlas in 4-5 shots on gold

nice tips here, quick question though, are you guys taking into account the talent that increases headshot damage? ie will a banshee still take more damage by hitting its chest rather than its head with the +20% HS damage?
good point but from my experience they don't

Nope, the only one that seems to be affected by headshot damage is Prime.
The Atlas doesn't have a head- however with a penetration SR if you hit mid-top of the pilot seat it will penetrate and hit the machine twice knocking off 3-4 blocks
Banshee supposedly takes no extra damage anywhere, but I still think the chest takes more damage and the limbs take less/steady damage, Some others think the same as well.
It is more about personal experience more then anything.

OP has forgotten to add the Kishon Harpoon headhot vs banshees... on gold kill banshee in 2 shots.
This was before the Kishook, way before it, had a widow I at the time.
Now with my manifest it would be hard to replicate because of the new weapons and all the upgrades.
The kishook does do head damage against Banshee but it is the only rifle and the only big unit.
The trade off is it does barely anything against the other big units (Primes and Atlas) and it has no "through" penetration, just "initial" penetration (it get stuck in whatever it hits rather then go through).
More of a specialist weapon like the Javelin then a generalist weapon like the Mantis.

Edit: Derp, I accidentally put my post in the quote box. What I meant to say was:
It's fun being able to one-shot a Brute with the Kishock. Hehhehehe.

The cockpit on the Atlas is a good thing to shoot at in SP - but since the pilot mechanic doesn't really exist in MP it's kind of a wash. Now, if/when this is fixed... we might introduce the weak point *deliberately*... the main issue is right now we have no ability to control the amount of damage done, which makes tweaking it a bit difficult.
That; I don't understand:
can't you use the same tweak as for the headshots, or maybe it's just an instant-kill ?
