Even though your analogy is sound, I think there's only one problem with it: you're basing this conclusion on your own experience. Remember what Legion said about the heretics? He said that a geth will say that 1 is less than 2, while a heretic will say that 2 is less than 3. Both are right, and neither is an error. The way this applies here is that you saw one equation, while I saw another. We were viewing this experience from Shepard's eyes, so we did not have all the answers on everything... just what was given to us. You saw some and ignored others, while I did the same. Also, it is clear that BioWare's intention wasn't to make the Mass Effect series a math equation, where everything falls into place. Most of the things that were related to YOUR Shepard and your questions did by the end of ME3, but many other questions were left unanswered.

After all, what is a universe if we knew everything inside it?

I'll grant you that my analogy itself isn't perfect. Not many are asking for perfection in the ending. As it stands I think it is fine to leave some stuff unknown and up to interpretation, but as a whole there is way too much of that going on with the ending.  If moriarty and Sherlock Holmes are having an epic battle we are focused on, and then Moriarty's henchman we never met steps out and blows Sherlock up. That in and of itself would be bad, but then to offer no explanation of where the henchman came from--who they were, etc with no follow up would be worse.

None of my examples will be perfect....

Neither will mine, but then again, real life is unpredictable. There's a verse in the Koran: ...nor will [the self] know on which soil it will die. I suppose that's another analogy that BioWare used to sneak in the ending.

But real life has choices and consequences. All of our choices did in the ME series. Fate puts us in all these dilemmas (choose Ash or Kaidan, save or kill the Rachni, etc.) because we are in a position to change it within the confines of what we can do. To refute the child, for example, would be defeat, because here we have our hard-earned work throughout the series... the only thing that can stop the Reapers... we can not choose to turn it down. We have to make the tough call.

It's hard to keep caring about this stuff today, cuz my girl keeps sending me awesome pics. Real life is calling, and I think I should answer. >:)

just sayin, but to honestly say that this post is on topic, i'll say this. Regardless of our opinions, BioWare will make up their own minds, and I strongly believe that they will fix their mistakes. Even if it means having a more full and rich ending, because I'm not interested in the Geth or any other race's ending. I care about Commander Shepard. I want to know that he won't be forgotten.

Actually, with the continuity errors, character screw ups, and plot holes that are being pointed out continuously, I might go as far as to say the fans have been paying much more attention to the story than Bioware at this point

Strongly your opinion. Who are you to say that they should "fix" it? Who am I to think that, either? I thought the ending involved me more than what a long-winded and dialogue-heavy ending in its place should be. It addressed every single conflict in the trilogy metaphorically, and it was short enough not to leave you bored of the endless talking and talking.

And Shepard will never be forgotten: the Stargazer ending was proof of that.

Again, all opinions. I didn't see any "continuity errors", "character screw-ups" and "plot holes"... or are these just buzzwords thrown around to hide your real justification for wanting a different ending: that you didn't like it and wanted sunshine and bunnies instead? Instead of making empty blanket statements, tell me what these "plot holes", "continuity errors", and "screw ups" are.

Indulge me. I'm listening.

My opinion is that they should change the ending. I didn't enjoy it, and I most likely will not play it again unless they do.

Not enough for me.

you can't ask a person to be emotionally invested in the franchise... and then say you have no right to have ending that you want because of artistic license...

Well it's pointless to debate now. We won.

More like a compromise. But rest assured that this is a dark day for freedom of expression.
