If Shale and I kill a monster would Wynne back at camp get xp...if I pick up dog late in the game would he start out really low level?
Do party members gain xp independantly?

Yes. I have read that it is all shared xp.

From what I've heard, only the people who are in your party at the time of the brutal murder get the XP. If Wynne was back at your camp knitting, she gets diddly as far as XP goes.

I'm only guessing but I'm thinking its gonna be more like Mass Effect, where everyone gets XP whether they take part in the XP gaining action or not.

2 different answers right next to each other. Anyone that can verify 1 or the other?

God i hope it's like mass effect that way if a certain party group im best with i can chose to only role out with that party without having to worry about the rest falling behind lv wise

Can't find source right now but I know for sure that devs have repeatedly said that it's shared xp in that everyone that you have at the time whether in camp or in party gets xp for the kill.
If you pick someone up later I'm not sure if there is any adjustment in the game.

I had just assumed it was going to be mass effect style which seems to be what bioware has settled on as the method. I think its a pretty good way to go in the game setup they use and hope this remains. Keeps the characters viable when they would otherwise be throw aways after they had fallen too far behind.

Confirmed: Gamespot reviewer states that characters who aren't in your active party but have been recruited (basically, characters who are in camp) gain XP with you. A la Mass Effect.
