Any clue how to make one for an interior room? I grab a model but it seems impossible to line them up correctly, they keep going back to a z of 0.
And since you can't SEE them, makes it TOUGH!
ceilings?

If you select Snap Option (the horseshoe magnet) and disable "Snap Z Size Independent", it should stop forcing itself back to a Z of 0 everytime you want to shift it around X or Y a little.

Yep, it sounds to me too like you have [Snap to Surface] enabled. While you disable it, you might want to set [Snap to Grid] to 4.0. Helps with lining up normal roof pieces for me, at least.
A trick you might want try if you find the whole transparency part of ceilings annoying: find another model of the same size, for example a floor piece. Use these models first to correctly line up your roof. Then select all of them and change their [ModelFile] in [Object Inspector] to that of your ceiling. Also, you'll probably want to make liberal use of grouping to build pre-set ceiling pieces.

What I do when I work on ceilings is to remove the floor and turn the level upside down.
I've found it's easiest to line things up if you place the walls first, then the ceiling, then the floor.
