Hey there

I've briefly scanned the forums looking for a similar problem but if I missed it, then I apologise.

I pre-ordered the N7 Edition and all of my DLC works, aside from From Ashes. I put the code in the appropriate Origins block 3 days ago and have yet to be able to play it. Once I log into Origin and then start Mass Effect 3, it takes a while to cnnect to the EA servers (this is not unusual) and then a window pops up telling me that Authentication for From Ashes could not be completed and that I need to log in to the Alliance thing (news network, I think) with the appropriate account. I only have one account and I log into that every time. My internet is working perfectly fine and all my other DLC (the N7 Collector's Edition and Pre-Order Bonuses) is working completely fine.

It is only From Ashes that is proving problematic. I've already finished the game once without the DLC but I would prefer to play it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Image IPB

there have been a couple of posts about this before; it would seem that the game checks for authorization before actually logging into the alliance network (ea servers). at least, this is what i've deduced, i'v had the same problem from day one, haven't been able to play the dlc at all.

there have been a couple of fixes for this, but none of them worked for me, and i assume this might be an issue with EA's servers...so until they fix this BS i guess i won't be able to play from ashes.

The consensus on the boards is that the easiest way to solve this is to uninstall Origin completely, reinstall it afresh, then command it to repair your ME3 install. For SOME REASON this fixes most of the authorization bugs.

I uninstalled Origin and reinstalled it but no option to Repair ME3 came up...

Even after uninstalling, it still won't/can't authenticate From Ashes.

EDIT: Never mind, found the Repair Install button so I'm testing that out now. Will see what happens.

I preordered and downloaded the collector's edition of ME3 which included the From Ashes DLC and have consistently run into this problem. The net result is that if I start up ME3 I can't resume play or load a save since the game started with the DLC included. I have found that the following (learned from another thread) works most of the time:

Before starting ME3, navigate to (windows 7):

C:\\Users\\[user name]\\My Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 3\\BIOgame\\Config\\

then delete "OnlineProfile.profile"

after this, start ME3.

For some reason I cannot use OnlineProfile.profile more than once. My current hypothesis is that in the PC version
OnlineProfile.profile is saved incorrectly and when ME3 acceses this
file it decides it is invalid and it won't even let you log into the EA servers. When a new blank OnlineProfile.profile is created you can then access the EA servers and authenticate what you have bought for the umteenth time. YMMV, good luck.

Bioware really needs to patch the game so that you only need to authenticate the DLC once; there is no need for it to check the same DLC every time you play. I can't seem to find the post, but I thought Priestly said before release that you only needed to authenticate the game once online, and after that you didn't need to be online except for multiplayer.

So this worked, I can now play From Ashes but now I have a new problem...

Just after I collect the data for the pod, the cutscene plays and then it crashes. No error message shows, ME3 just closes and returns to the desktop with Origin still open. Fun times. I'm gonna fiddle tomorrow and see what happens Image IPB

Thank you all for the advice. Image IPB

That's a known issue. It can be solved by finding the other lab first (there are two). :)
