One thing about the ending I think is often overlooked is that the Reapers really lost some of that awesome presence we first got from that conversation with Sovereign in ME1. They gave off that Lovecraftian vibe where they can't be reasoned with simply because their way of thinking is so alien and unimaginable. I think they would have been much more interesting if lines like, "we are your salvation through destruction." only really made sense through their twisted view, rather than try and justfiy their actions by saying that all organic life would be destroyed if advanced civilizations weren't harvested. This is why I'm not really big on the Dark Energy ending either, because they'd still be have some understandable cause that would diminish that feeling that they view organic life like we view bacteria. Also, havign vent kid giving a "friendly" face to the Reapers didn't help either.
