According to the manual, poison-making is described as "mixing deadly substances that the character can apply to MELEE weapons, inflicting extra damage...blah blah blah".
What the hell?
So my rogue archer, who is forced into taking poison-making as a skill upon character creation, can't even use his poisons on his arrows? I hope this is wrong. Otherwise, it makes no sense.
Poison can only be used on melee weapons?

You can put more poison on a melee weapon then on a arrowhead. You need enough to inflict extra damage so melee only.Come on its not that bad.

yep i thought it was silly that it was not arrows as well even if it meant poison dipping each arrow in it

That IS kinda nerfed...
Poisoning projectiles is something that has been done since man could, well... project something...

It seems to me it has shown poisoned arrows in game play footage and in the trailers, so it may be different than what the manual says...time will tell.

It's pretty bad. Poison arrows are **** effective, not to mention awesome and cool. A little dissapointing, even if i wasn't ever planning on using bows.Arttis wrote...

Mhh this would suck if it's true
But it's probably something that can be easily modded it. Assuming that isn't screw up balancing.

Arrows should get to have allkinds of effects, not just poison. Thief: Deadly Shadows had Fire Arrows & Exploding Arrows, among others...

If I remember correctly (and I rarely do) Dragon Age has different kinds of arrows. Fire arrows, barbed arrows, elven fletched arrows etc that give bows different damage bonuses. It's balanced out, believe.

Well I think the OP is right in a way, but arher characters are not stuck to just using bows, they also have swords too.
But I do get his point about how a rouge is forced into having poson when we can't use it on are main weapon of choice. Which kinda sucks really.

I hope the manual is wrong, but then again I believe there is an option to craft grenades with the same skill.
And overall, I gave up on planing my character with so much conflicting info around. I'll just wait and play.

Man, that'd suck balls. I'm already having second thoughts about being an archer in this game.

The "secret" manual and guidebook are now just confusing everybody. This is making me worried as well since I get my hopes up and quashed and back again hoping that range weapons won't get crapped on yet again. If long range weapons can't be buffed it's making more and more important they are strong DPS wise otherwise they just get screwed.

Hope this isnt true. I am planning on doing a rogue archer as well. Really will suck if I cant use half of my skills as a rogue with my main weapon of choice.

Is it possible that Poison Arrows will be pre-poisoned? Rather than you applying it to them, or possibly a Skill that poisons an arrow before you shoot it?

I am guessing there is separate special ammunition probably like fire, poison etc.
I think you coat the poison onto your melee weapon. I don't think it would be practical to use up all your poison on one arrow.
