 I have been playing and I have had some trouble with Brutes and Banshee's until I found the right combination of squad mates. I am a Sentinal Shepard and I take Kaiden and Liara and I've maximized my cryo blast Liara's warp and Kaiden's reave for weakness to armor potential, and not damage to armor but greater bullet damage to armor. Hit the Brutes with all three power and focus fire and it should go down as easy as a cannibal. Make sure to focus on one Brute at a time. Ive used this strategy on the Krogan home world and the last push to the conduit.

For the Banshee's it's pretty much cut & paste, but maximize yours and Kaiden's overlode for damage with a decent cooldown or decent damage with a fast cooldown. If you don't the cooldown will kill the strategy, as the Banshee's close in pretty quick.
 Using this strategy I've easily put down 3 or 4 Brutes and /or Banshee's at a time.

What difficulty are you playing on? If its insanity, I thank you for this info. I am going to be starting my sentinel Insanity run soon, good thing I spared Kaidan in this one.

Engineer with the cryo/incinerate combo can one shot them once the barrier goes down and all but kill brutes. Stick up some drones,borrow Talis power and have EDI along and it's a cake walk. There are so many drones/turrets/defence drones/decoys arounf the AI has no idea what to do.

I hardly fired a shot outside of those scripted places were your powers don't work.

Soldier +Revenant+Adrenaline Rush+Incendiary Ammo,and squadmates with any anti-armor powers.

This. Heck you can also use sabotage>incinerate to kill them quickly.

This. Heck you can also use sabotage>incinerate to kill them quickly.

I'll definitely have to give this one a try. Thanks. Just to clarify though, can this be done on insanity?

I used Dark Channel -> Warp Bombs with Javik and Liara on my Engineer run, throw in a few Overloads/Incinerates and it was destruction. It was lovely.

For any difficulty level go go engineers! Tali, EDI and engineer... cakewalk. Nice fireworks too. Oh, and don't turn your back on the mobs because they cheat.

I haven"t tried it so i'll just ask and see if anyone else has... Do these tactics work on all armored enemies like the Cerberus mechs?

Well the Soldier technique works on all enemies, armored or not. Incendiary explosive burst + High ROF Assault Riffle and use Adrenalin Rush to do auto reload will cut through them. Especially Brutes that like to cluster up. When the 1st one dies, the one next to it is almost always at 50% or less health left.

Warp + Dark Channel + Biotic Charge + Nova + Shotgun with Explosive Burst = Dead Brutes and Banshees

im an infiltrator and roll with liara and javik so I use the warp/dark channel combo on brutes. I have ED as my bonus so I hit the banshee with this and then with same combo followed by incinerate.

Preparing for my insanity run with my infiltrator and this sounds interesting.
Squad cryo + sabotage 100% tech dam + defense matrix 25% tech dam + cloak + incinerate = easy brutes/banshees?

It's true. Go try it.

Brute on Insanity is dead after Sabotage + Incinerate + Incinerate.

A banshee's barrier goes down to one bar I think with Sabo + Overload. After that, you can make short work of its armor with Incinerates.

my vanguard has reave.

On the ardat yakshi temple when those 2 banshee's arrive at the end, i simply used dark channel via javik and did reave...followed by a warp my liara while shooting it long with my shotgun-incendiary ammo. It was down.

The dark channel switched to the second banshee, where i proceeded to reave-shoot-charge-shoot. down. They barely managed to close the distance. This was on hardcore.

Did someone say infiltrator's, sabotage takes down shields and barriers??!! I wish i would of known that on my first playthrough

This. I'm also pretty sure that Brutes have no "heads" for headshot damage purposes either. The Black Widow is awesome though.
