Is it just me or did the patch just ruin the sound? I'm using 5.1 speakers and they're set to a 5.1 configuration. They were working fine until I patched the game now I can't hear the dialogue I only hear sounds. The speakers work fine I tested all of them.

I have the same issue - the centre channel now disappears, it makes the game unplayable! I am using an Asus Xonar DX. I usually play with headphones in 8 channel mode (7.1) using Dolby Headphone. However the problem does not go away if I switch to 2 channel mode.

That sounds worrying and is the first I've heard of this problem. I am not aware of any changes to the sound system in that patch. However, I can tell you that the game detects the PC output settings and sets the games output settings to match. Therefore, fiddle with the windows sound control panel output settings, ensure it's all set up appropriately, restart the game... this should fix your problem. But without coming to your house and tinkering with it for myself I can't really say any more than that.

Good luck and please update us if you get it fixed.

Thanks!

Always nice to see a direct official response  to a user's issue :)

Yes I've done that already, tried many times but still nothing.
@DifferentMatt I'm using the Xonar DX too. I'll try it tomorrow because I'm not at home right now and I'll keep you guys updated.

I've seen some other threads/reports on the issue, some resolved them, some still don't know.

Some of the things that ended up helping:
Change number of channels.
Uninstall/Re-install ME3.
