In ME2, I could use slam pretty effectively. It would fairly consistantly take out low level characters on normal as long as the impact was clear, it's extremely fast, and it's fun to combo, even if it's not technically the most powerfull skill in the game. I wanted it as a bonus power in ME3, so I bought the DLC earlier than I originally had planned in order to get it.

The problem I'm seeing is that either slam specifically, or kinetic damage in general, is not working properly or consistently in ME3. When I use slam (fully maxed out and damage bonus focused on the tech tree), frequently even with a clear impact on flat ground, I'm getting absolutely no damage to enemies - cerberus troops, canibals, even husks on occasion - which shouldn't even be possible since any other airborne ability kills them straight off. Other times it will be a clean kill, and sometimes they will only take a little kinetic damage, and that off the second bounce, not the slam itself.

Is it just me, or is this bugged? Did I just have better luck with it in ME2? Or am I one of the only people who still uses this power over pull? ;) Having to slam things multiple times to do any damage to them at all, much less to kill them, makes the skill almost completely useless now compared to any other levitating ability.

Nor does it logistically make any sense. Watching a cerberus guy get smashed head first into the ground then get up with full health and start shooting me is just a little messed up. :P

As you I really like this ability, and now with the sound effect it has its really cool, at the beginning of the game I felt the same way as you, it seemed it did not cause a lot of damage, but as I gained level everything is fine with it, for me at least, maybe it's just how you leveled it

As I said, I already have it at level 6, choosing the added damage options. And it's not just that it's causing light damange, it's that it is frequently causing no damage at all, when it clearly should have.

I have the same problem with Slam. Sometimes it will work, and when it does it's very effective. Other times it'll cause no damage at all when an enemy is slammed into the ground. Under certain circumstances it'll even bounce the enemy thirty or forty feet into the air (doing no damage on the first impact), only for them to still take no damage upon landing.

I was happy to see it got an impact radius upgrade in this game, but unfortunately I have trouble getting the skill to work properly. It's a shame, because it would be such a great skill if it worked consistently. As it is now it barely works half the time.

I agree that it seems like an issue with the impact detection programming in the game. The Slam skill doesn't seem to work well with it. In ME1, impact detection seemed very generous when I played Adept, so I think maybe they wanted to fix that in ME2 and 3. Unfortunately it just feels kind of stingy now.

Last night I slammed three husks in a row in a wide open space. Every one of them stood back up, no damage. My team-mates took them out for me while I dealt with the bigger fish. There is no doubt in my mind that something is seriously broken here. Normally you breath on a husk and it dies (normal difficulty).
