When I start the game, everything runs fine, no lag in the graphics. The only thing thats wrong, is I see no text, I clicked to start the game and saw that text, but in the character creator, or in the main menu, the text is not there.
A quick fix would be nice.
Game running ok, except there is no text

If you had the same problem that everyone else has had when reporting here that there is no text on screen, the only real fix would be to donate the old and obsolete PC to Good Will and get something made in the last five years instead. The video card that has guilty every other time has been the six year old Geforce FX generation, all of them, and those were included in slow PCs with slow CPUs and slow RAM.
For whatever reason, however, many Geforce 8600s have numerous problems with their drivers in this game. Not all 8600s, and not all drivers.

GeForce 8600 GT, so not my video card, something else is wrong, and if it was an old out of date card not supported, I am sure the game would lag, or not even work.

This seems to be the most recent post on this issue, so I'll post here
I have this problem after installing the toolset. I don't have out of date drivers and I don't have a very old system. Using a 9800GTX +
I'm using the steam version, so someone suggested in another thread running a validation might fix it.
Any other thoughts on this issue other than "old graphics card" ?

AFAIK, the answer to what happens sometimes regarding the Toolset is just to uninstall the game and then reinstall it.

Looking for any instances of this symptom for DA2, and not finding anything other than for DAO . .
therefore, if another DA2 buyer of the latest two DLC offerings (October, 2011, Mark of the Assassin and Warrior Pack 2) looks here, the text in the menu is graphically generated, and in order to render such items, the GPU must meet the requirements, and the three softwares involved must be pristine.
The video drivers must match the card (new drivers vs. old cards is often a problem), the Direct3D APIs must be uncorrupted and complete (Dx9, for DAO, Dx11 for DA2), and the game file must be uncorrupted. There is no official toolset for DA2, but unofficial Mods will appear, and are suspect.
Drivers are easiest to replace, and Dx9 is simple to install. Reinstalling the game requires uninstalling it completely, first.
