Just wait a year, and they'll come out with an ultimate version with all the dlc for the same price as the original game. It happens every time.

Fixed. And it can prevent or at least delay sales. Its the reason I didn't pick up Dragon Age 2 until it was $10, was a combination of playing the Demo and plenty of warning from those that had obtained the game, and how bad reviews and feedback were.

I preordered the US release of the game, so I count amongst the first day sales. However in the time it took to actually get to me, the endings furor exploded, and when I actually tried to play I was slapped by the Face Import failure. So yes, Bioware has my money in this case. Lots of people purchased early due to their faith in Bioware, and their experiences in the series previously.

Does this mean I have voted on the 'change the ending' poll? No. Because I haven't seen the ending, and I refuse to play the single player game until the patch comes out and I see if it corrects some of the issues that were left in on release.

Can I even do anything in the story board... uh... no. Due to an issue with how EA deals with accounts. (I play ME3 on my other EA account, I hang out on the forums on this one, and it refuses to allow me to register the game to my forum account, and don't even get me started on how my attempts to merge the two accounts went *rolls eyes*)

Have I been warning people about the issues? Yes. And lots of 'WT****g has ensued.

Am I likely to preorder another Bioware game based off the releases of DA2 and ME3? Not likely... but still possible, depending on how this all ends.

Reply to the OP You didn't factor in a few things. The number of people getting a chance of finishing the game.
The number of people who won't go on facebook or the Bioware site. (last poll I saw however was at about 40k wanted a different ending.
and the number of long term loss from those you didn't include as well.
In the long run it will hurt their bottom line.
They do have to pay the actors game designers and writers ect. That bottom line will get smaller and smaller the more people start getting upset with what was done and start returning their games.

Huh, so this must be why political polls are given to every voter in the nation in order to be valid. Oh wait....

Epic fail OP. While the polls showing above 90% disapproval of the ending are not scientific due to being a self selecting sample, concluding that only the people who voted in the poll dislike the ending is moronic. It's a SAMPLE that represents the rest of the population within some undetermined % of error.

It really is not about the attention span. I know i felt like i poured life into the game to get what was promised in the end. (Can't get into it since spoilers). It was a kick in the teeth to me and many other fans. Bioware will probably loose that guaranteed cash flow with future projects becuase they destroyed consumer confidence with a series that could have been a juggernaut. And the number of P*** off fans is growing by the minute.

there were no severe problems with those games nor a huge amount of people who actually supported the notion, besides i am sure people are done giving BW chances knowing that they have done things in this way 2 times

You're upset. And you got the wrong guy. Please provide ONE example where I attacked someone for liking the game.

The evidence we have right now is you entered this thread with no intention on discussing the subject. In fact, you're trying to derail it. You're being a troll.

You're taking a sample of a population (with a SKEWED trend) and comparing it with concrete numbers of units shipped? (not sold). This blows my mind, you have no idea how statistics work. Not everyone who has this game A) Goes on the forums and B) did the poll. Does this mean that the general trend  this poll shows is false?Presidential polls of ~1k people (A SAMPLE) must be wrong, right? No, it just means they have a large margin of error. Do you really think a ~90% response with over 50k respondents is misrepresenting the community? Do you really think the margin of error is THAT large?

Wow.

Baladas can disagree with me without hating me and vice versa. You (Rimmsey) are acting like a child throwing a tantrum. Please, consider your words and actually conform to the topic, 'the numbers...'. I don't mind getting off topic now and then, but insulting people is different. Consider this: are you acting any different than those you are criticizing? No.

It is hard to take an online poll like this as a basis for your argument because not everyone A) Goes on the forums (in fact, only a minority do. If you're familiar with Blizzard and their tactics, they cite this as a reason why QQ threads don't lead to nerfs) and B) not everyone took the poll. The statistic is not true to real life.

But surely you would think that the fact that this movement has, in a way, taken over gaming talk online would hint at the true scale of this issue.

And also the fact that not everyone who own mass effect 3 (on any console pc,ps3,etc) dislike the endings..maybe it wasnt perfect for them but neither terribad.

What i mean is if im not wrong from official numbers ME3 sales are like 1 mill + right? So even if 45k ppl voted that they wanted a change its still not that big number in comparison to the total that it should been. And yes i realise some people dont even go to forums but if they dont and they really hate mass effect 3 endings im sure at least to whine and let them know they would of send twitter messages or post here.

Imo i find the ending not being perfect but neither that terribad as many say or think.

This is the 2nd time I've seen this argument.  Couple objections:

1.  You're using the most recent up to date sales numbers.  I know people who bought the game on release and still are not done with it.  Here's something shocking:  Most people do not pull 5-10 hour marathon sessions and finish a 35 hour game in one week.  They play for 1-3 hours a day tops, and it might take them a month to finish it.

2.  Your number of 30,000 is totally arbitrary.  The segment of fans here on the board who are dissatisfied with the ending are not representative of the greater population of players.  This cuts both ways, of course.  But you cannot extrapolate BSN data to the greater whole.  I know 10 people who play this game, and I am the only one who's interested in participating in discussions here.  And I'm sure it's way less than 10% of players who look for the BSN forums and start contributing their opinions.

So our little poll where 90% of people or whatever don't like the ends simply can't be extrapolated to the greater populace.  Not unless Bioware has some sort of algorythm figured out to normalize our data to represent the rest of the player base.

3.  Casual players (that majority of the millions who bought the game) are not DLC buyers.  It's hardcore players like us.  BW stands to lose more money with loss DLC sales which is not factored into your argument.

GENERALLY:
I agree, however, that ending changing DLC is not garuanteed because a "majority" of players dislike the ending.  No one has data yet on what all players think of the ending.  BW appears to be trying to collect this data right now, especially when you consider that they've made open appeals of facebook for feedback.

We certainly are entitled to nothing.

However, BW has an amazing track record of considering our feedback, a fact for which I am thankful, and because of which I will continue to articulate my opinions here.

Agreed. I suspect that in the long run the majority of people curently claiming they'll never buy a BioWare game again will, but that due to destroyed confidence in the out of the box satisfaction of their products, preorders and first week sales will shrink dramatically. Satistics aside, the issues over the response to ME3 have gained mainstream attention and even sympathy (Forbes, etc.). This is the surest sign I've seen that the scale of discontent is unpresedented in the gaming community.

OKAY I WILL SAY AGAIN(not angry but loud for all to hear) The sales are impacted, not everyone has finished the game yet, not everyone even cares, not everyone can say anything, not all of those who have finished the game will say that the endings were fine i will bet that most won't like them, those that have finished the game and have the ability to say something have done so and the majority of them are against it. which puts the end changers in power
so don't assume that just by sales numbers that the ending will remain because not all of the people who have one are all on your side as it is proven online that most aren't and will want the end changed.
if that isn't convincing than ACTUALLY LOOK AT THE FORUMS PAST and you will see that you are wrong.

This is a classic misrepresentation of inferred statistics.

1) The OP has clearly mistaken 1.85 SHIPPED for 1.85 SOLD... that's already wrong.
2) The OP is also clearly taking random numbers from the top of his head, it's clear that as of the OP he didn't go and review the poll that clearly shows 48,000 people against the endings, not 30,000.
3) The OP has clearly made the mistake of assuming that only those people would buy ending DLC, this is a logical fallacy. Even people who are ok with the endings who LOVED the game from start to finish LOVE the game and would gladly pay more for more content.

Heh. What is your source for the sold vs. shipped info? Because you're the second person to say that. The OPs link made it look like it was 1.85 million sold.

i just want to say something real quick about some of the early posts in this thread re: this forum being a good representation of all gamers

i'm a person who has never joined a forum like this in my life, i just joined on like the 12th or whatever, and even though i play games and have for 15+ years i don't really get as hardcore into them as some people do, the kind of people who for instance enjoy talking about them in forums

i made this account 100% to get in on the ending discussion. and i'm a person who doesn't like the ending. i have a friend who is in the same boat, one of the only other guys i know who plays games, totally different kind of person than i am. also hates the ending.

i think the general public, especially the fans of the series among them that are out there (and they DO exist, fans who don't forum) will have a problem with this ending. that said i still think the game will sell well! the trilogy is awesome, the game is getting GREAT reviews from every corner of the reviewing world, and even a lot of people who HATE the ending think you should still buy this game. so i don't think ME3 sales figures will tell the whole story.
