Since there are no spoilers allowed I will just say this:

The central theme of the series, from Mass Effect 1 til the end has always been larger than "stop the reapers", and with that in mind the end should be more obvious - I saw it coming, but I can't go into detail without spoilers.

All I guess I can really say in addition is I think the ending is quite profound and is one of the most thought provoking endings to a video game series ever. Also, with any media, a degree of ambiguity in the end is almost always better than tying up everything neatly with a bow. Again thats really all I can say.

That's curious. I thought the ending went directly against the core themes of the ME universe. My problem with it also has nothing to do with it "not tying up everything neatly with a bow".

It felt out-of-character for my Shepard and completely nonsensical. And my decisions really had little to do with the ending choices as they amount to little more than a number that determined whether I saw a particular 2-second cutscene or not.

The thing is, it's very difficult, dare I say almost impossible to make a satisfying ending to a great series that wouldn't also seem cheap or cliche. This might seem just like it now but if Bioware did what many fans are pushing them to do (speaking of those who want more than just a better explanation), that would probably feel cheap to me. A year from now I may be even glad it ended like this. Of course, I wouldn't mind a DLC featuring the galaxy in what would be the next cycle if 'someone' hadn't messed with it.

There is a rumor about it being indoctrination attempt. And after checking around a bit I've seen quite a few hints that there will be a free multiplayer DLC ''The truth'' which will also continue SP story from the end of your decision.

Bioware keeps pushing me with this. I don't really play multiplayer games and if they'll continue to integrate it so much with the single player experience, I'll probably have to. If I don't want to limit my possibilities in single player or miss something essential to the overall story, that is.

I'd agree if I bought it.   But I've been burned by the both the EA and the BioWare hype machines enough times to know better than to touch an EA/ BioWare game until all the dust has settled.   My experience is summed up as:  EA/BioWare -- twice the hype for half the game of our competitors.   So, I'll do just what I did with ME1 & ME2-- bargain bin.    Or, if they don't fix the ending, what I did with DA2 -- not buy it at all.

As for the predictible charges of 'hater.'  Once I was a BioWare fan.   But my days as a BioWare defending **** ended with the lies around Jade Empire's PC release.   When a company advertises a game as platform exclusive then, two years later in a desperate need for cash, lies and never said they engaged in a huge marketing campaign where they were clear JE was XBox Only for now and forever...

And bans people who reposted their quotes and advertisements...

Yeah.   That was too much for me.   I didn't mind the PC release.   I did mind the lying and the banning instead of saying something simple like "We had a lot of PC-only platform demand and we decided it would be better to change our minds.   Because of this, and to show how sorry we are, if a registered XBox owner, you can Download the PCversion of them game for free."

That'd have been totally win.   You lose some sales, but you increase customer loyalty.

Instead, people who (even nicely) pointed out the BS were trolled and banned by BioWare itself.   I can't defend a company that trolls and attacks its customer base.

I've read that.   I understand the logic, too.   They're trying to destroy the re-sale market because it hurts their sales.  If you leave the 'real' ending off the disc and don't let the code be used more than once, you can stop the resellers.   At least somewhat.

Problem is, when I re-installed ME2 on my PC, they wouldn't let me reuse my Cerberus code.  It's tied to the game I installed, so I theoretically should.   BUT, it didn't allow it.

So, there are problems inherent in that approach.   And seeing as I can't get anyone to fix my ME2 issue.   That's putting all the risk on me.   And I'm not willing to be punished because they can't get it right.

Well it shouldn't be a problem as long as you have online pass and it is actualy free. Ofcourse if they force people to pay for it I'm guesing atleast 50%of people who are still willing to buy their games will reconsider it.

My issue isn't really with the money. Of course, if they keep promising it will be for free and then make us pay for it anyway I'd probably get suitably angry. I have issues with the multiplayer bit. It irritates me that the multiplayer's become such an integral part of the single player experience in a game series that started out as singleplayer only.

I know though the majority of the people even prefer multiplayer gaming so it probably pleases them that it has an effect on their singleplayer - I belong to the minority unfortunately. And since I don't know any other way to raise the galactic readiness - the only Apple product I own is the original iPod Shuffle - it kind of bugs me, especially when it has an effect on the ending of the game. So if they're going to create purely multiplayer campaign that will actually continue the story or provides essential information about it, I'll have some issues with it.

Creating content exclusively for various Apple products also irritates me to no end but so far it wasn't really anything I couldn't live without. Anyway, sorry for the rant, I know that even though it's connected, it seems completely off-topic.

I see what you mean. As an xbox mostly player I prefer single player games. When multiplayer is forced like that it's annoying, especialy considering the fact that you have to pay for gold.

It seems to be the trend these days. To think there were times when you just bought a game and didn't have to invest any more money in it until new datadisk came out and that was only if it came out at all.
