I don't want to be forced to play multiplayer, because I can't, and above all, I shouldn't be forced. You said, that multiplayer won't affect the single player for those who don't want multiplayer, but actually that's the case.  I tried again, and now I am sure, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO have the best ending without multiplayer because of this issue. There aren't enough war assets in this game.

I can't play mass effect 3 again right now, since whatever the playthrough, I can't have the best ending.

It will be fixed with paid DLC that gives more war assets Image IPB

We play Multiplayer for the sake of playing multiplayer, with friends. It is fun and rewarding in itself.

We play Singleplayer for the experience, the journey.

So true.

I finished the game just a couple of days back. Played the multiplayer to 100% readiness...ended up with 7170 war asset points. I then copy pasted on a different directory the very last autosave - reloading it everytime to try to get the other end-game scenarios...none of which mattered.

Now I logged in again and my 100% is back down to 81% which means you need to keep playing the multiplayer to get it back up. Most of my multiplayer friends are on xbox360 - I am playing Mass Effect series on my PC.

Think of the one day when the multiplayer isn't possible anymore.

What'll players do then to get the best ending? I don't mind the endings so much, but this is really stuid.

Yep. Also, they want to force MP on you to increase the chance of you buing their incoming MP DLCs with weapons, armors and other silly stuff.

The sticky with misinformation is still there, so that shows you that Bioware wants to actively mislead their paying customers just to squeeze few bucks more. Bad and shortsighted business practice, but at least at this point we know their priorities.

Well. I kinda fixed the war assets myself. I doubled everything, including repercussions if you fail at something like betraying wrex, etc, etc. Now in my game at least you only lose important war assets if you don't do things right, rather then scrounging for everything there is to do in the galaxy.
EDIT: Also this proves that multiplayer was forced on the single player experience, although I'll admit multiplayer is fun.

Heh, my xbox subscription runs out in April and I had no interest in renewing it. Looks like I face a race against time to get ME3 finished.

Poor showing BW. Maybe you and DiCe should get some capital together and break away from EA before they fully break both your consumer bases?

Problem is, Galaxy Readiness and it's degrading are intentional. EA thought: people will play through SP many times, as usual, and since GR degrades over time they will have to keep going back to MP. And many will want to make it easier by buying the packs. So, MP is needed for SP for a reason.
And if many players cease playing game after 1st playthrough having seen the ending I can see suits in EA HQ being really unhappy with MP packs not making money they expected. Hence, that Goliath event's been ordered to bring people to MP (and pack buying) at least temporarily, until they figured out how to make people replay game again.
To OP - this will never be done. But expect premium packs that improve GR gain several times for a limited period of time, a-la subscription. This, and something will be done about the ending. Not sure what, but they will try to make people go back and replay game in some way.

It's a feeble attack on the used games market. *shrug*

Money wants money, and in EA's case the drive for it never stops.

1.  If used games sales are really that bad then EA should not be rewarding gamestop with exclusive content seeing as how gamestop is the major player in the used games market.

2.  They outright said all the endings were possible via singleplayer so this isn't even about the ability to get the endings its about being lied to (yet again)

I want this sorted out to. We were told we would be able to get the optimal ending by playing single player only. This clearly is not the case. I'm not interested in multiplayer at all.

Has anybody tried to ask them about it on the twitter? They are pretty responsive when it comes to endings now.

I don't have a twitter account, unfortunately.

I agree with this thread completely. I dont have xbla bioware. And I shouldn't be forced to have it to get the ending I want. In single player I scanned every every planet I possibly could and I still only got like 3800 war assets. This is freaking crap. I wanted to start a new playthrough but I'm noy going to cuz I know sheps screwed anyway so whats the point.

I still can't believe they tied SP and MP together like that considering how many people complained about the inclusion of MP in the first player. I'm fine with them having MP, I actually heard it was pretty good, but don't make it affect SP. Thats just stupid. Sorry about the rant but I am so pissed off about this.

Still nothing from EA/Bioware about this. Disappointing.

Yet also not surprising.  BioWare is in the 'Ignore until they go away' phase right now.

They shouldn't have made this Galactic Awareness junk. It's just a cash cow so we play their MP, buy their apps and buy other things they can come up with.

In theory, I actually like that the Multiplayer ties into the Single Player experience, but it is handled in a fairly poor manner. I'm mostly a Single-Player only type person, so on my first run through, when I got stuck at 3,800 ish AMS, I was a little irritated. I actually used the Free Weekend to buff the galactic readiness (Which only took maybe 2 hours to go from 50% to 100%) but still.

But on the other side, this Operation: Goliath is a really good way to integrate Multiplayer in the Single Player experience, by providing Rewards to active Multiplayer participation. Incentive without forcing it. Everyone gets an N7 weapons package for Single Player if Operation: Goliath is a success, regardless of their participation, I hope they continue with events like that, but make the whole "Galactic Readiness" thing a little easier.

You don't need to play multiplayer to get War Assets.

You just need to play singleplayer even harder.

Or take 5 minutes to edit your save files with Gibbed or something. (Which is unbelievably simple)

Yes, it is.

Just, tedious. Or slow.

It's these kinds of things that I tend to just not think about when playing games.

I just...play.

Before I know it, I have more than enough of whatever it is that I need. I don't rush through my games either, though. I spend a lot of time making sure I have everything completed at a certain part before I continue on.

Never miss anything, collect everything. Success! Not fun for everyone, though. Which is why I also mentioned Gibbed editor.

No, it's not. Some of us have actually run the numbers and they just don't add up. You can only get a maximum total war assets of 7,520 which makes for an EMS score of 3,760.

Ah yes, internet goers running numbers. We have dismissed that claim.
