to be honest I think they should have kept it a mystery. Then again I don't like the Quarians or Tali, never once thought about romancing her either. So I didn't care about the stock photo, infact, I laughed over it. Bioware trolled Tali lovers....

YES. this picture is definitely imagined Tali. Very dark skinned with a long, exotic face. The other picture that people keep posting reminds me of the Zora from LoZ. Definitely not how I imagined her.

I feel the humanoid form is a very effecient form. Good for navigating all types of terrain. Good for disappaiting heat and storing heat in the core. Fingers and opposable thumbs for the percise manipulation of objects. I feel the chance of an alien species sharing some resembelance to humanoid form is very high.

Read the part "Ain't Gonna Look Like Mr. Spock" from the link I posted earlier (quoted in this post) and see why you're wrong.
Humans are only effecient on planet earth and on earth only. As soon as we find a planet who's lowest temperature is 300 degrees Celcius, our bodies are useless. On such planets it's much more likely you'll find silicon-based life. Those species build from silicon building-blocks will look vastly different than us humans.
Or take a planet that has 100G of Newtonian gravity. That's like 10x as much as on earth. Our bodies would not be able to handle such gravity. Aliens living on a world with such high gravity will look vastly different than humans.
You see, our planet is unique in almost every single way. The climate of our planet is probably unique, but the way how life evolved on Earth is 100% unique. There is no way in hell we'll ever find a planet where evolution took the same leap as on planet Earth.
TL;DR: No, you're wrong. There is no way in hell alien species will look just like humans. It's not gonna happen.

I must say that I have no problem with the Tali picture. Sure, I personally imagine Tali as being somehow more exotic (just a strange skin or hair colour would do lots). But honestly, if Tali would turn out to be ugly (like a Salarian or a Vorcha), who would choose to romance her in any subsequent playthrough?
The fact that it's a stock photo doesen't matter in the slightest, IMO.

Some of my favorite game music of all time comes from stock music libraries. Tali's inspiration from a stock photo means absolutely nothing to me.
