If Tali's photo didn't come from a google stock photo, would you have liked it more?

Isn't this question just another variation on:

"But other than THAT, Mrs. Lincoln, How did you like the play?"

I certainly would have liked it more. It actually looks really nice. But the fact that this is just a photoshop from google makes me cringe.

This.
Also, surely it would not have been THAT hard to pick one of the already existing Fan-arts.

There's legality issues involved with just picking up someone's artwork off the internet and using it in your multimillion dollar game. Stock photos, however, are royalty free once you pay for the right to use it as you see fit. Much easier on the leagal department.

I'm sort of upset that from the ****** up she looks 100% human, but the photo doesn't bother me one lick. Okay, I lied. Her creepy little fingers in the photo give me the shivers if I look at them too hard.

I'm sure they could have paid the said artist and be done with it. Most of them would be happy enough to have their illustration chosen as canon and their name in the credits!

I actually would prefer a different photo, something that's not only original, but also better. The original photo is also inaccurate; a quarians fingers are spread apart more than that, and, well...bottom line, just get us a original and better photo!

I bet that if Bioware were to put the same amount of effort in making a photo for Thane, it would look like a different version of Kermit the frog.

You'd have to wonder why none of the older (Heck, mid-aged Asari..Adults) didn't take one look at the humans as they joined the galactic community and be all "WTF ARE QUARIANS DOING HERE! AND NO SUITS?! Seriously! These guys look just like the Quarians, ask your grandparents."

Is this meant to be Tali? If so I think it would have been great if they used it. She still looks good and it seems it would satisfy those "she should be more alien" people.

Ummm, the Asari look more like humans than any other...

I liked it and I still do. But the problem is how much effort Bioware/EA put in it. Its wrong and disappointing, besides fanmade pictures posted above are MUCH better.

I would certainly feel better, even if BioWare's creation wasn't appealing to me. But I'd know they actually thought about how to portrait, how to define the character(and the entire race of the Quarians I might add) instead of shifting through stock photos, picking a random one and do a bad shop on it.

They should have just used the fan art. Sure the person would have been happy just to have it in the game with a end credit mention.

See, something like this would have been amazing.  Exotic, pretty, but still alien.

Not to say that her reveal isn't alien, but she looks like a damn elf.  I wouldn't call it "bad" so much as I'd say it's uninspired. It's just not impressive. The worst part about it is that dropping the ball doesn't just screw Tali, it screws the entire Quarian race.

Luckily, I never had much stake in Tali anyhow.  Never connected with her.  Sorry to the ones who did. My condolences, sincerely.

We should just get Joker asking Shepard questions how does she look like and have some options to choose :P We could then state that she looks more human, more alien etc.

Mmm, i never understood the fascination of that fan picture. To me it looks abit to much "boyish" then anything really. Either way the stock photo was quite lazy, i'd rather have no reveal at all tbh.

p.s that other fan alien posted look way better. And could actually represent a female alien.

Or they could just have used the VO, would have worked vastly better imo.

I kinda like the photo, but the problem is that BW didn't put too much effort into. It doesn't help either that there is a lot of illustration made by the fan which  are better than the BW's one.

I wanted her face to look like some kind of hideous monster.

So no, I wouldn't have liked it more.

I would have liked it just fine. I knew it was never gonna be exactly what I imagined, but them actually designing a face for her would have been better.

Honestly, i dont think the reveal of Tali's face had to be done at all. I dont need to know what she looks like to make her remain my favorite character in the series. Stock photo is a bit lazy, but there is always a chance for Bioware to patch the game and re-do her face (either in the game engine, or with another photo).

Lazy check
Good model choice check

Seriously, even Start Trek gets lazy. Bajorans and Vulcans anyone?

Now that you mention, it's probably better that way. If they had put more thoughts into her, she would have ended as a God-child avatar that was watching us all along...

The origional art for Tali's face, before it was scrapped due to a clay shortage.

I didn't know that it was a stock photo at first. And I was like: "Hey, she's actually incredibly sexy. Pale skin, glowing eyes, dark hair, it all appealed to my taste in woman. But then I saw the hand.

3 Fingers... Ok yeah, she's a Quarian, they have three fingers.
Wait, why are the 2 fingers so close to each other? and what is with the rest of the hand being a sort of stump?
Then you realize the model for Quarians has 3 fingers, but the fingers are thumb, index and pinky (maybe even ring finger instead of pinky.) and the hand is straight and ends where the pinky ends, there's no extra hand and it's straight, not deviated or diagonal, ok, maybe a bit, but nowhere near that much. The hand in the photo is thumb, index, middle finger. It's not like there's a book on Quarian anatomy, but having been a Tali fan and loving her character and personality so much I couldn't help but notice the mistake. Also the fact that Quarian fingers seem kinda pointy, and in the photo they look human and have round nails. It just didn't fit with the suited hand I've been seeing for years.
So at first I was like yeah she's the best love interest.
Then I was like... Ok, that photo is wrong, but it can be forgiven.

Then I found out it was a stock photo and I understood why the hand was so wrong. Wait no, I still don't understand. You can't photoshop it right EVEN when you have the Quarian model everywhere in the game and development offices? Wow. Just wow.

Also the fact that they could have made the best scene ever by showing us Tali's face on her Homeworld and instead we get a picture.
The fact that (even though I don't like it because it looks like Justin Bieber) even a fan could do a 3D model of Tali's face in his free time, yet a PAID BioWare employee just decided to go with a ****** poor photoshop...

The picture started fine, but then it got screwed up in SO many ways, it became impossible to like it.

The Emergency Induction Port was however the cutest scene in the game so it kinda made up for the photo.

No, my issue with it is what a low quality photoshop job it is.
