If Tali's photo didn't come from a google stock photo, would you have liked it more?

Yeah how could you?

Be warned, it's one of those sanic style videos so turn your sound off, seriously, turn it off unless yo want your eardrums blasted This guy makes the same basic picture in less than two minutes in MS paint.

If you didn't turn it off, I warned you bro, I warned you about the moon.

Yes. They could have made her a hideously disgusting alien and I would of liked it as long as they put effort into it.

Bioware build up the perfect scene to reveal Talis face
www.youtube.com/watch
That was the moment, Talis Face should have been revealed. After that scene, I thought that they wanted to keep the secret and I was totally ok with it. Not long after I came across this scene www.youtube.com/watch, and all I could think was they should have sticked to the decision to keep the mistery.

The picture of Tali they give feels out of place. It looks way to human, the hand looks horrible. Than again, quarians normally don't leave that suite. So when should this picture been taken? It shows a planet, so it should be Rannoch. But we were on Rannoch and there Tali didn't undress completly. And as far as I remember my Shep didnt't order a shore leave before leaving the Quarans. Another planet perhaps? Which one wouldn't make Tali deadly ill? And that for a photo she has no real use for at that moment? No, they should have either used that scene on Rannoch or kept the mystery. Or at least show some effort and come off with a picture that feels like a Quarian, a foreign species, evolved under a different sun than ours. There are quit a few more appealing fan made pictures out there, and that's just sad.

But after all, there are far bigger problems regarding the ending. I can live with that picture as long as they menage to solve the ending-debacle in a satisfying way. But if I'ld know a way to change that picture with another one, I would surly do this in my game...

I imagine that if the pic wasn't some terribly lazy photoshop off of google images, that it wouldn't have been AS disappointing. It still wouldn't be good, though.

I'm just more angry at the fact that she took her mask off at least 3 different times where it would have been a perfect opportunity to show it. Lost potential.

As lazy as it was, I still prefer it to any of the fan made creations. If no one ever knew it was photo shopped, there would be a lot less outcry.

Eh. I redact my statement then. I was just going off the pictures earlier in the thread (the photoshopped image). It is the same photo, but my opinion on it stands. I still like it lol

Only now I'll be forever haunted knowing Quarian hands are as creepy as they look.

I'd have handled it differently. I mean the Tali-face picture is there for the fans who romanced her in 2 & 3. I didn't romance her, I went with Liara and I always enjoyed the way in which he Quarians faces were not revealed.

Perhaps it showing her face for those who loved her on Rannoch might've worked out better, but time, expense, etc etc might have come into play.

In all fairness, I learned that Tali's photo was a stock image AFTER I saw it in game. And to be perfectly honest, my opinion is the same as it was when I first saw the picture.

1) Tali is very beautiful
2) Her hand feels....off.

And although I was mad at first due to the lack of effort. I realized you can't please everybody and I was fine with how it looked. It just needed to be animated into her character model.

I think a lot of people would be much less upset if that face was put into the 3D model and shown on Rannoch (at the very least). And the picture's hand was fixed. People are honestly making it sound like it is a crime to have this look for Tali and I can't see a reason that I cannot immediately disprove. "Aliens should look like Aliens?" - Convergent Evolution. No need for common ancestor or even similar genetic material. The existence of certain traits appear without a common ancestry because they work in promoting survivability.

"Hair shouldn't be that long after 300 years on flotilla" - 300 years is not enough for evolution to phase out hair. Also, tying hair up does wonders to keep it out of your face.

ect. ect. Yes, I would think the photo would be more popular if they had the hand right the first time. And covered their tracks (not made the stock photo so easy to find,)

I have to say I agree with you. Wouldnt have mattered to me as much if they modeled it. I mean hell Miranda and Shepard are based on real people. Why cant a humanoid alien have a real life character model?

and yeah the hand is off. It seems as if they made the two fingers SLIGHTLY bigger and just cut off the rest of them. The fingers should be in the center, not on the side lol

overall though im just glad Tali is pretty. I'll let my imagination handle the rest...still it woulda been nice to see a reveal on Rannoch

I'm gonna throw out a conspiracy theory here, but what if Bioware is just trolling us? What if in April or May, they'll release a DLC that's a, "LOL just kidding! Here's a new tali mission with her face at the end! We got you good!" and just for good measure they give us an excellently made up painting of her to replace that photoshop job?

We can always hope.

What is true is that no matter what BioWare did, some fans would complain. She does look incredibly human for some one that holds similarities with the turians (hands, legs, feet) but I digress. What is bothering people is that BioWare didn't even try with Tali's picture. If she looked human but BioWare actually put effot into the picture we wouldn't be so upset with them. I for one could handle her looking like a human if actual effort was put into her design.

I realize this is probably impossible but it would have been awesome if we got to customize her like we can with our Shepards.

Here's a part of my ME3 review where I talk about Tali's face: There would really only be one change I would make on Rannoch, and that would be when Tali removes her mask (in either eventuality) and the camera pans away. Can you imagine how amazing the scene would have been if this was where the Mass Effect (and especially Tali) fans were to get their first look at the true face of the Quarian race? If we were to have saved her it would be amazing to be rewarded with it, and if she instead kills herself Shepard would be the last person to see the face of a Quarian. Instead, Bioware copped out and just faded to black, only later to deliver the (now apparently) cannon face of Tali as a poorly photoshoped stock photo. I already don’t love the design (I would like more slightly divergent facial structures from Humans) but I really don’t have much of a problem with it. What I do find offensive, is how lazy they were with Tali’s picture. Instead, I would have been fine with Bioware still leaving the true face a mystery, or even if they wanted to go about it in the same roundabout way by just showing a picture if Shepard romances Tali, I don’t know why they decided to use a real world photo in the video game. Nowhere else is there any footage or images in the game that weren’t animated or drawn, yet here they decided to use a stock image from our present day Earth. Then for them to just remove two fingers, throw an effect on the background, white out her eyes, and draw on some tattoos is just so sloppy, I never thought Bioware was lazy before seeing this image. If this was their long held artistic intent to have an extremely humanoid Tali, it would have been very easy for Bioware to animate the face (possibly using her voice actor as inspiration) for the few seconds of cut-scene at the very end of the Rannoch mission. The only possible reason I could imagine for Bioware going the route they did with Tali’s face, would be that it was an absolute last minute addition that wasn’t peer reviewed, but just snuck into the shipped game.

There's nothing wrong with the face, and we all knew it would be impossible to the hype justice. That said, I think they were incredibly lazy with her hand, and I think it felt really out of place that there was no visible link to what we know of Quarian aesthetics and looks. It would have been a lot better if they had shown her in suit, but without helmet, for example, or they had replaced the background with the interior of a Liveship.

The background has to be a fake anyway, as the only place she can be without a suit and not get badly ill would be Rannoch, and when you get there, it's her first time on the planet.

I assumed that she took the picture after Rannoch while she was ON Rannoch? Or does she give you her picture before those missions?

It's a quite beautiful scene where she removes her face mask. She says it'll be years before she can live there without a suit, but this once she'll look at her home planet without a mask. She puts back her mask and have a sweet but a little sad conversation with Shepard about the future. Then she sneaks away and strips out of her whole suit just to get a photo of her face for Shepard?

Anyway ME3 seems like a giant /fu to all fans after all the demands the community have made in the forums prior to ME3 about content in ME3 :P

I was and still am a firm believer that her face shouldn't have been shown in ME3 at all. It does not matter what she would have looked like, the end result would have pissed off a certain % of fans and there was always going to be backlash regardless.

Honestly i didnt mind the photo even knowing the background, Tali was always one of my favoutire characters i was always under the impression they had plans to show her in game not just a photo though and if you have been in a relationship with her she removes her mask twice in the ship fyi
