If Tali's photo didn't come from a google stock photo, would you have liked it more?

On the other side of the coin, Hammasa Kohistani is a good match for the basic shape of Tali's face (straight nose, strong cheekbones, same eye shape, etc.) so I don't at all mind the choice of her as Tali's facial model.

I don't like it but I don't hate it. I think a lot of people are disappointed because...well this "design" came out of nowhere. We saw several concept art for Tali and this wasn't one of them. Instead we get Hammasa Kohistani's edited pic, there's nothing original about it, it's just lazy.
That concept art was never meant to be a definitive design.
Even though it's a photoshopped picture, it's a pretty accurate representation of a Quarian, based on their established biology.
Quarians are generally shorter and of slighter build than humans.
Quarians have an endoskeleton, lips, teeth, and two eyes with eyelids
and tear ducts; they also have three thick fingers on both hands which
include a thumb, an index finger, and a long finger, similar to the
middle fingers for humans, as well as three toes on each foot. Quarian
facial structure and hair actually makes them the most similar to humans
in physical appearance. Their lower legs are bowed backwards
significantly, compared to asari
or humans. Aside from hands and legs, their general body shape and
sexual dimorphism is similar to humans. Their ears or ear analogues
differ in a noticeable fashion from those of humans, with references
made to "what [passes] for the quarian version of an ear".

Also, I'm impressed that Tali's hair manages to stay so vibrant despite being trapped inside an environmental suit for her entire life. They must have special hair care programs.

This again, just for emphasis.
If you expected Quarians to be more alien, then you didn't know what Quarians really are.
Whether it makes sense or not is another debate. Quarians were always meant to look very similar to humans, even moreso than Asari.

'what passes for the quarian version of an ear' looks suspiciously like a human version of an ear from where I'm sitting.
Looking at the Tali photo and the original stock photo, there is a big difference in the ears.
No earlobe, more stretched upwards, thinner.

Instead, a picture is taken from getty images, badly photoshopped and taken as a low resolution substitute. It is pretty low imho.

It would be like a Paragon interrupt or you can choose it through the dialogue wheel to either walk up to her, turn to her and look at her face, or just walk up behind and don't look at her face.
Either way, it should please both sides.
If you don't look at her face, you're free to imagine your own face for her in your game.

You have the option of not looking at her picture at your cabin...
Also, for all that say "this picture is my headcanon, not what Bioware showed": You can choose to imagine all you like -- make your own imaginary Mass Effect galaxy where Turians look like carebears and Krogan look like cheetahs or something. It still wouldn't change what is canon and the reality of it, however.

You want to see her face, examine the picture.
You don't want to see her face, don't examine the picture.
If you mean about an ingame model... well, I also want the option to see her ingame model face. Perhaps a DLC!

I can certainly see why the hardcore Tali fans would be upset though - it is a very cheap way out that BioWare took.

I would appreciate that much.
But in the end it's like in Supertramp's song: Dreamer, you know you're a dreamer ...
;-)
EDIT:
arthurhallam absolutely agree.
But I'd have prefered a 3D ingame model over a photo to be honest (like the many who mentioned the Rannoch scene) ...

My only regret about the way they did the Tali arc for Shepard is that you could never make a joke about her feet. I was sure they would've done an in-joke for that, considering that was the whole reason the devs nixed her as a LI in the first game.

and i dont understand why bioware became so incredibly lazy to photoshop
a stock image in 60 seconds.
If they really claim what they say thy are , they would have made there OWN vision
of tali and made a model of it and would have shown her face in the cutscene where
she takes of here mask , simple either show her face , or not.
The picture was a disgrace , to fans of tali and to bioware themselfs.

In the world of Mass Effect, Asari are supposed to be the "sexiest" race and their feet are exactly like human feet. Therefore, disagreed.
I just think a foot joke would've been a nice nod to poke at the fourth wall.
