If Tali's photo didn't come from a google stock photo, would you have liked it more?

As for the appearance itself, I was bothered by how human it was (people saying they were always described as looking human are missing the fact that that's compared to, say, salarians or turians. The Asari look pretty damn human too). She's literally just a human with different hands and some lines on her face.
I was also bothered by her hair. She's been in a helmet all her life. She did *not* have that hair, I promise. Where would she put it? When the hell would she wash it? If we had to assume quarians have hair in the first place, Tali's (and the rest of the fleet) should've been shaved bald.

Here's the best part: they have actually had a rough 3D model of her head since ME1, they just layered the helmet over top of it to make the translucent effect look better. Some of the helmets even had slightly more transparent visors, so you could see it better at the expense of a few stat buffs. Why they didn't just touch that up and give us a proper reveal is beyond me.
All that being said, her appearance isn't all that important to her character. I don't care that she looks extremely human like, that isn't the main problem. What does bug me is how lazily the artists handled it. If you're going to make a big reveal like that, especially with a character as popular as Tali, then you have to do it right. The lazy Photoshop job was not the right way to handle it.

Attraction, for humans, is based on such a ludicrously specific set of traits that finding aliens who evolved along different lines and yet fit the bill would be like winning the lottery seventeen times in a row and then being struck by candied rainbow lightning. I mean, even our closest genetic relatives are too far away from us for us to consider them attractive. Let's be real, when was the last time you looked at a chimp and said "Oh baby, break me off a piece of that..."?
And yet the Asari already do fit the bill. So upgrade that to 34 times and two candy lightning bolts.
I honestly would've been pretty okay with the Quarians looking weird and off-putting. Something you'd have to spend a lot of time getting used to before you could feel attracted to.

She looks like Talis and Garrus' daughter ... ;-)
( In an alternative universe, where Shep don't romance Tali ... * harrumph* )

I always thought it was weird that Quarian appearances were such a big mystery anyway. They die or need medical treatment outside the flotilla all the time, which means that, in-setting, their appearance is probably well known. If Shepard wanted to know what they looked like, she could've just looked it up on the Extranet.

Again with the hair! They've only been in the suits for a couple hundred years, barely a breath in the scale of evolutionary time.

Too human looking. I am one of those who thought that if would have been more fitting if her looks was based on a mix between Liz Sroka and a grey alien.

I'm not saying they should've evolved not to have hair (though, really, hair is a weird thing to copy from humans, evolutionarily...), I'm saying that keeping hair that long is a pain in the ass even when you're not stashing it under a helmet. I should know, mine is about that long. Anyone who lived in a helmet all their life would cut it. With scissors. And a razor. Which are noted to be much faster than evolution.

[they don't want to show us her face because we have gotten to love the personality, the suit, the voice, the two glowing eyes imprisoned behind her mask. We don't need to see her face because there's no point in it, the players imagination of her face is well reward enough]
I even told my girlfriend when she asked "do you think we will see Tali´s face in this game?" and i said exactly what i said a few lines back. Imagine my surprise when Tali said she left something for me in my room, I was speechless when i saw this picture. And when i saw that they took a stock photo from goggle i was even more furious.

Honestly I feel your pain about the whole stock photo thing. It really sucks. But truthfully I don't think any picture would have worked. The whole appeal to tali was the mystery that shrouded her character. Every player had a vision of what their 'perfect' tali looked like (mine was a cross between spiders and some reptilian lizard). I think it was a huge mistake to have revealed her.
In Mass Effect The Final Hours. The developers even talk about Tali face reveal and my point regarding the reveal was mentioned. Honestly I feel like BioWare gave into a bit of public pressure here with the reveal, I don't think they ever planned to reveal the Quarians, this was probably just a fanservice.
Regardless though, stock photo aside. You should be happy they choose the beautiful route. Honestly I was dying for a lizard reveal. But she looks great and if you don't like it.. then hold your image of tali close to your chest. Nobody can take that from you. I always thought this was the best though. Simply amazing. Kudos to the artist. But honestly.. stock photo aside.. she still looks awesome.
(edit: Looking back on the final hours app. This actually slightly resembles one of their earlier quarian depictions.)

I find it to be cowardly, and I understand why many of the Talimancers feel offended.
It's like Bioware didn't think we could handle seeing a non-human face behind that mask.
Personally, I find it impossible to believe, for this reason: The shape of the Geth's heads.
When people build humanoid robots, they build them in their own image, because that's what they think a humanoid looks like. There is NO reason for the Geth's heads to be shaped the way they are unless the Quarian's own heads have a similar (thought obviously not as pronounced) appearance. I always imagined them to be oblong, basically. The white eyes seemed kind of obvious.
That would mean, the creators of R2D2 look like a trash can.

Note: I would be OK with seeing her in an epilogue without the suit. Maybe 5-20 years from the events in the game [if she lives]. A full render there would make perfect sense. If we could also see her in her house on Rannoch then even better.

I don't think anyone actively dislikes the photo. The woman is beautiful, and in a very naturalistic sort of way. We are disappointed in the lack of effort that went into establishing Tali's identity. No ingame model, nothing made by bioware. Zero effort put into an incredibly popular character. Choosing a stock image and then putting a 5 second photoshop on it to "convert" it into Tali is a travesty. She deserved better than that. We all did.
This ^...design is fine, in game model is needed...very badly.
