Horizon 2.0... or, the VS's overdose on retard pills.

- Oh look, Cerberus!
*Shepard shoots them all down*
VS: what are they doing here?
Shep: I dunno.
VS: orly??
Shep: ya rly.
- Oh look, Cerberus again!
*Shepard continues Cerberus killing-spree*
VS: Shepard, I need a straight answer from you. Do you know anything about what Cerberus is doing here?
Shepard: No.
VS: But, they gave you a ship, and resources, and you worked with them. Do you know, anything at all, what they're doing here?
Shepard: NO!!!
- Oh look, Cerberus in the facility
*Cerberus killing-spree now turns to massacre*
VS: hey, I have an idea, let's foil whatever Cerberus's is up to with a little trickery.
Shepard: good thinking!
VS: got the mic- oh god! This guy has been huskified!
Shepard: yeah, not exactly but they definitely did something to him.
VS: did they do this to you?
Shepard: ?!?!?
VS: how do I know that the person I'm currently working with to ruin Cerberus's plans here isn't actually just mind controlled by TIM???
I get that the VS would be suspicious of Shepard's Cerberus ties but my god, this was utterly ridicilous writing. It made Horizon look downright sane.
My best explanation for this is that BW was trying to create an allegory to US Homeland Security.

For some reason, even though their lines are pretty much the same, Ashley annoys me with this nonsense WAY more than Kaidan did.
Same. I was also playing a Paragade Shep who loathed Cerberus with every fiber of her being, so it got really old REALLY quick. The VS's accusations should at least take into account whether Shep actually liked working for Cerberus or not.

But yeah, I wanted to slap them a few times for the constant asking. All my Shepards have hated Cerberus with a passion.

Also, in Kaidan's case, he happens to outrank Shepard now so he is well within his rights to expect a few answers from him/her.

Nope, I don't agree. The Virmire Survivor has every reason to be suspicious of Shepard because Shepard was not allowed to explain him/herself in Mass Effect 2 (the writers wouldn't allow it). For all they know, this Commander Shepard is just an imitation of the real thing (it's not like Cerberus is opposed to doing anything unethical like cloning or control chips). Questioning them in order to get direct answers is perfectly in character and completely understandable.

Uhm.... the writers wouldn't allow it? Aintcha mixing your reality metaphors there? If the writers wouldn't allow Kaidan to let Shepard explain herself, then it's also the writers writing him as an annoyance in the Mars station.
Or, Ashley/Kaidan was a jerk on Horizon, and s/he's more of a jerk on Mars. After that Cerberus-husk crack, there really needed to be a renegade interrupt to sock the VS one.
EDIT: And I don't think Major outranks Commander.

...If it was me, I'd reserve my judgement with the fact that Shepard came back after destroying the collector's on pretty much free will.
Last time I checked, Commander outranks Major.

Wouldn't you be at least a LITTLE suspicious in their shoes?

And sadly it takes them getting there heads beaten in to somewhat think you aren't with Cerberus, just so they can acuse you of being with them again, with the counculars. At that point its like FFS
At least I was able to vent alittle after shooting Uldina.
I'm not blaming VS for doubting, its just annoying to be doubted every step, while you are shooting all of Cerberus.
Maybe its an issue if the scaring is showing but if it isn't it should be less of an issue.

I'm willing to bet once you are skipper of your own ship, since ship's commander traditionally = captain, Shepard can basically tell the Major to step out an airlock if he doesn't like it.
Not at all, at least not in a realistic sense. One of the early side missions in ME1 revolved around one of Shepard's superior officers dressing Shep down for things he didn't like about the ship. Since he was a superior officer there was no "shove it" option.
Same here, most you get is telling them to serve someone else before they get back on the ship.

It was kinda annoying that Ashley questioned me after I mowed down like 30+ Cerberus troops.
Honestly, the citadel confrontation made sense whether people like it or not. Ashley/Kaidan were suppose to be the Council's bodyguard, and then Shep walks into the room when they were expecting Cerberus Troops who were attacking them to.
Honestly, I hated the way the Horizon encounter played out, but their reservations in this game (fear of TIM possibly brainwashing Shep) is actually kind of valid.

Doesn't that get you in hot water with Hackett? (not that it really matters since consequences hardly ever matter.)

Actually what bothers me is that they do nothing about it other then whine.
Ok lets say my Shep is working with cerberus and im leading the VS and Liara into a trap (just cause I got time to waste like that. It makes as much sense as most of TIM's plans). Would asking me three times in a row change anything ?
Obviously im not gonna roll in foetal position and cry 'Im sorry! Its all a trap !'
