I've been pestering EA support for days and they've been generally unhelpful.
I have one inadvetently-created EA account that my Xbox created using its more-or-less defunct hotmail account. This is the one that my gamertag is linked to and due to an oversight/error in the creation of it, I can not have my gamertag transferred by conventional means becuase I have absolutely no idea what the birthdate ended up as - the birthdate being some sort of "security question" for verification of ownership.
If I can't fix it that way, I've considered removing all content from this extra account and deleting it - and logging into EA servers using this account to connect the gamertag because the old EA account won't exist anymore for it to link to. But I can't get anyone to tell me if that will actually work or not. I get generic "you want to close your account? all content will be deleted" messages which I know will happen - and that account doesn't have anything in it in the first place (except for ME2 and DA2 links, which I can manually remove before deletion anyway). None of the customer service people will tell me if that will actually work.
They've told me that I can't merge the two accounts for whatever reason. Apparently it's not possible? And I'd probably need the birthdate for that unused one, which I don't have in the first place. :/
Is there any way to fix this or am I just screwed and completely unable to register my game so I can post in the owners-only boards? I'm also not sure if I should redeem any content using codes that I have for it, because I don't want them "stuck" to that unused account. I've been playing without an internet connection to my Xbox since I got ME3 just in case; I don't want anything else stuck in that account.
Unable to link EA account and gamertag - completely screwed?
